Purina One commercial

I have heard the ad many times and I like it, especially because it is a live read. I was curious though, because I have heard the ad on WROR done by Loren or Wally and I have also heard it done on Oldies 103 a while ago by Paul Perry. When they talk about taking the Purina One 30 Day Challenge and how Purina One had greatly benefited their dogs or cats by giving them more energy and a heathier fur coat, are they talking about their actual experiences with their pets, or are they just using their dog's or cat's name or a made up name, and reading the copy? When they tell their stories about Purina One and the changes they noticed when they started giving it to their dog or cat, the stories sound very convincing and natural. They will be talking about something else and smoothly transition into the Purina One ad as if they were transitioning into a conversation about a diifrerent subject. I noticed that Purina One live ad on several different stations at the same time. How does that work? Does Purina One go to a corperation like Greater Media for example, and say they want to purchase advertising time on all of their stations? This as has been going for a while, and every time it comes up, the djs give updates on the progress their dogs or cats have made while on Purina One. I also love the phone numbers that Purina One uses for the special offer for the owners to call and get free bags of Purina One. I'm not sure but I think they were 1-888-606-BARK and 1-888-606-MEOW Here is a link to hear Loren and Wally do the Purina One ad. When you access the link, wait a few seconds for it to load, and then click the small arrow next to the speaker to play the audio.

When Peter Blute would do this on WRKO--for all I know he's still doing it on his WCRN show--he kept
mis-pronouncing it as "purr-ee-na" instead of "Pyoor-ee-na". "Pyoor", as in "pure"...

Other talk hosts have talked about their pets. Laura Ingraham had a dog named Dr. Troy who passed on
recently, and now she has her beloved Lucy. Stephanie Miller has talked about her dogs (and plays the
sound of Dino, the Flintstones' dog-like dinosaur); Jay Severin has talked about walking his dogs along
the beach, and Howie Carr has his pugs, Pearl and T. Dana Hersey has a bumper liner on Howie show
where he says Howie should have a real dog, like a German shepherd or a mastiff, "not two little
foo-foo dogs that my wife's twenty-year-old-cat could beat up."

I switched to Purina One (for other reasons) and did not notice any difference in the coats of either of my cats. But I was already using a good brand.

I do find it annoying when you hear the same scripted commercial done by different hosts.

There is one for "Tahiti Village" in Vegas. I've heard the exact same script read by at least three people, the most annoying of which is Midge from That 70's Show. "You know you want it, Las Vegas is calling ..." ::)

so a bunch of radio people whored themselves out for the extra $ they get reading a script plugging animal feed and this surprises you?

These are the same clowns that were doing personal testimonials for fat removal products, before the company that was sponsoring them went went belly up owing the stations like 30 million bucks or some such amount.

I constantly change the brands and varieties if cat food I buy and meticulously lay them out: beef; chicken; veal; fish, und so weiter. As I go through the checkout line at the supermarket, I joke to the girl (usually) at the register that my cat eats better than I do. Of course, since I shop for "food" in NH where I can also buy wine and beer, I definitely DRINK better than she does (City of Methuen tap water...yuck).

Loren and Wally do that commercial all the time and so does June Knight on the Oldies 103 morning show. Wally's dog is Mrs Beazley and June's dog is Shane. In case you needed to know. ;D

All personalities are likely paid very well in cash and/or in promotional consideration (free dog food, for instance). Keep in mind that Loren and Wally seem to do about 5 live commercials every quarter hour: Purina, Cingular Wireless, Dunkin Donuts, Hotels.com, Brickmaster are the current ones I hear most from them.

They used to do Grossman's Bargain Outlets all the time.

There was that one where you could donate your car, truck, boat, etc and get a tax write-off. Can't remember the name now. ::)

Sue Cope, their newsreader, shills for The Adams Center (now the Adams-Seckles Center). She also shills (or used to anyway) for BriteSmile.

They are all compensated very handsomely for their efforts regardless of whether they use the actual product or service.

The "Tahiti Village" folks have a new one out for some place in Orlando... heard Tanya Roberts "talking" to Gregg Daniels about it yesterday on Mix.

Ya I've heard that washed up Tanya chick shilling on a couple of stations under the guise of it being some sort of an imromptu interview, but listen very carefully at the end for the tag line where they do the "sponsored by Tahiti Village" thing to keep thier azzes out of trouble with the FCC for nont disclosing the sponsor

I'm waiting for Ponch to pop up next selling his slice of Florida swamp land.

Rapking, the latest on the pet food story is that it wasn't rat poison. Now they are saying that melamine found its way into the food.
