Putting Local AM stations on FM-HD

In NYC WINS (1010 AM) can be heard on 102.7-HD2 while WNYC (820 AM) can be heard at WNYC-HD3. I don't see the point in doing this. I really think that an adult standards station should be placed on 102.7-HD2. Is this happening in any other markets? Any comments?
