Q-101 Chicago

Can anyone tell me why Q-101 in Chicago has been doing so badly in the ratings game for the last couple of years?
Is Alter-rock not the thing in Chicago?
I think the best thing Q-101 had going for it was the "Sonic Boom" show on Saturday nights. Granted, it was out of the station's format, but it was the best thing on the whole station that was getting ratings.

Q101 is a really great alternative station again. They're one of the few in the US that regularly spins at least one 80s track per hour. They may experience a slight uptick after the demise of Zone.
Edited by saladdressing on 12/19/05 09:45 PM.

The Zone has been off of the air about two years.

Zone history:

Late 2000: Flip from Classic Rock "CD 94.7 WXCD" to 80s & More (Mostly 80s) "94.7 The Zone WZZN"
By spring 2001: more of a full blown 80s & More
By summer 2001: Hot AC
September 2001: Alternative
Early 2003: Hard alternative
By late 2003-2004: Pure active rock

all as WZZN "The Zone"

as the poster below said, they blew it up 9-26-05 at noon.
______________

And that's why I said they may receive a *slight* boost in the ratings, as opposed to simply inheriting the full Zone share.
