Q-102 imaging

Having to post this anonymously, but it always amazes me when people in radio create fake profiles here to "phish" for props. Hoping your PD will see this thread buddy?

I find it such an insult to the intelligent conversations/debates normally found here. Don't insult our intelligence, please. For what it's worth, Steve Sykes is no longer doing the imaging for Q, and prior to that it was Ed Bishop. As a former CC employee, I can tell you that Ed B. was railroaded out of there, and Sykes was brought in to do the imaging to save $ since he was doing multiple stations from St. Louis.(?) Bishop was the LAST in house pro Q had, and I beleive he did a stint at K-Rock in NYC too. The new imaging is being done by their commercial prod. guy who just uses CC templates created by others talents and plugs in the voice guy parts. He doesn't voice the stuff. Funny too, that the new "imaging" guy is married to the APD. Can you smell the narciscism? I won't mention his name here, [EDIT]. Actually I still have this email that was sent to some CC folks by Ed B. after he was let go, and word has it he was let go not for his lack of creative skills, which he certainly had (He was a top imager in the country for CHR, Tons of Air Awards etc.), but because the current imager routinely set him up, and bashed the guy behind his back to the PD and APD (who is his wife). The guy apparently did the same thing to Sykes, running to the PD all the time to rag on the guy. Well, all I know is what comes around goes around and this guy is a no-talent.

Here's the letter:

To all my friends and former co-workers.

I’d like to set the record straight and let you all know that I did not “leave the company on my own to pursue other options”

as stated in the email on Friday. I was let go...actually, let’s put it in “real life” terms, I was fired. To be honest, I felt like a

complete criminal durng my last hour in that building, with people hovering over me while I packed up my stuff and even

being locked out of my computers as if I would do something crazy. Since when have I ever been that type of person to

ANYONE in that building. I can deal with being fired, it’s the fact that FIVE years had come down to that last hour. And THAT

is what I will remember from Q102.

I also feel cheated that I could not say goodbye to all of you. You have been a part of my daily routine for over five years. A

part of my life that until I was driving home on Friday, I never realized meant so much. So to all of you, I wish the best of

luck and I hope you will all find happiness in whatever you do or wherever you end up. As far as I am concerned, I AM FREE.

If I’d known it felt this good to be out of there...I would have quit a long time ago.

One more thing. Franklin, can you please stop talking aboout me? I also hear you’ve been telling people you are helping to

re-image the station.

P L E A S E...are you kidding me? Stick with your “cut and paste” method for producing club spots. You know, the ones that

OTHER people write and OTHER people voice. I’m sure you spent several hours in my old studio copying the settings that I

came up with over the years. Must be nice. You are only there because you are affordable my friend. A paid intern in most

peoples eyes. Actually, you should be flattered that you made it into this email. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone quite like

you. And I hope I never do again.

To everyone else...Goodby and keep in touch!

[EDIT=name calling]

Yea, posting annonomously (i spell like a 3yr old) here as well since I work for CC in a top 30 market...

I used to work at Q...back in 04.

I too can vouch for Franklin's (imaging/comm. production director) drama ridden ways. That building was so thick with drama you can cut it with a knife...I couldn't hack that feel when we are supposed to love this biz we are in...so I left. If you werent in "the click", then you got the cold shoulder and you got thrown under the bus for false accusations...it was the APD's hubby's words against yours...ALWAYS. Him and Marian (APD..who they are are married to each other) was always the trouble makers. And former PD todd shannon made it that much worse...I'm glad Vaughn is in there, THAT is the breath of fresh air...now if Vaughn would only get rid of the few other drama queens...Q would be an even better place to work!

Sorry, that last post made me want to chime in :) Well said!!

PS: When I recieved that email from ed as well, I was cheering out loud..haha!

I enjoy and have always enjoyed the imaging at Q102. Some of the ads are really funny! Especially that like teacher character lady (she isn't on the station anymore, but she used to be in so many promos). She'l like "Ah kay class...." something along those lines. Keep up the good work whoever is doing it right now. ;D
