Q 107.1 Myrtle Beach - Coming Monday 2/18/08

Looks like we know what the name of the new station will be.

"Q 107.1"
Morning Show - The Steve Harvey Morning Show (6am - 10am)

Afternoon - The Ride with Doug and DeDe

Nights - The Keith Sweat Hotel (7pm - Midnight)

Not sure of local djs yet but I am sure they will get one for the slot between Steve Harvey and Doug Banks and then a local dj between Doug Banks and Keith Sweat.

Lets see how 98.5 KISS-FM fights back. We welcome Q 107.1. Im sure Q 107.1 will make a big dent on KISS-FM for sure.

Hopefully they have local djs also not just national shows. But sure The Steve Harvey Morning Show will do well in mornings which will hurt KISS-FM big. The Steve Harvey Morning Show is also on Charleston's Star 99.7 and they are doing very well.

Wouldn't it be smart for 98.5 to go all hip-hop? They won't be able to compete with 107.1's signal--in fact Kiss has always been impared by their poor signal, at least when I've been at the beach.

I always thought Kiss fm or WSEA should go all hip hop. It seems nobody in Myrtle ever listens to Hot 100. B-92.5 in Charleston has more Myrtle Beach listeners. Also, for all hip hop it seems most people listen to Coast 97.3, they have a good signal in Myrtle, even on little clock radios.

It looks like the only full time local jock will be on from 10am-3pm. Where is Mr.Smith(former PD/Afternoon jock on 98.5 KISS FM)? I wonder if he's heading over to Q107.1? No doubt Steve Harvey's Morning Show will gain numbers in the Grand Strand since its a new and refreshing Urban choice in the AM. Q107.1 would've been better off going with Michael Baisden for afternoon drive.

I hear Mr.Smith is in a non compete battle with Cumulus Broadcasting. Strange that they let their token talented black guy and company favorite go so suddenly. Just a few months ago he was the company favorite and no he is nowhere to be found! Something is fishy about this.

Isn't the reason Cumulus doesn't flip one of their stations to Hip Hop is because of Coast 97.3 from North Carolina? That would be a stupid reason as Coast is in a different market. As for 98.5 KISS-FM why do they call themselfs "the big station" and they also say the most powerful signal on The Grand Strand. Wouldn't that go to Star 92.1, Mix 97.7 and Wave 104.1 as they all broadcast with 100,000 watts.

As for Q 107.1 their not listed on the radio-locator search when you look up Pawlyes Island, SC even 96.3 doesn't show up. I know when it was The Sound 96.3 was for Pawlyes Island, SC. But when Q did their ID they just said the ID for 107.1 not for W242AJ which is 96.3.

Wait I just put on 96.3 and the Q is also broadcasting on that station too like they did with The Sound. Only thing they are not doing is IDing 96.3 when they say the ID for the two stations.

Star is 50,000. WKZQ is 100,000, although ...

I got that wrong. I got my information off of radio-locator. Star 92.1 is 94,000 and WKZQ is only 37,000 and this is right off of radio-locator.

I just thought Star 92.1 was 100,000 as you can hear them far in the car while driving to Charleston, SC. But 94,000 is still powerful.

Does Q 107.1 sound like their sister station The Flo 102.9 in Florence? Both have Harvey in mornings.
probally, they also sound like 92.1 and 101.1 the touch in Wilmington
