Q-93/Alexandria

Alright, so what the heck has happened with Q-93 in Alexandria? First, they enjoy about 5 years of good and sometimes great ratings then they let their pd go for god knows what. Then they hire a throwback from the 1990s who just makes the station sound like it IS 1992 again, with the old school voice dude and all those remixes. then he plays more rap songs and now the station website is down and the stations been off the air more than on lately.

First thought is, wasn't this station number 1 in the ratings? Why would anybody wanna change anything about the station if it was working? second thought is, seems like everything went to crap since they let the last pd go. Are the radio gods upset at Q-93 managment?

first in ratings doent necessarily mean first in sales. maybe its easier to sell rhythmic chr?
 
in ALEXANDRIA? Doubt that. They had tobe doing ok with kiss, ksyl and q-93 all that time to have been able to buy clear channels stations.
 
Whoever knows about those guys. With the great Taylor Thompson on hand, who knows what might be going on. Real winners! :D
 
Haven't heard from the q lately... All of the cenla websites are down apparently being moved to a new server (or at least the message that was on the KRRV website.

For the reason Q turned..check out a few months back... basically a on-air comment that was taken a different way by some influencial people in local government and boom PD of 5 years goes bye-bye

To answer smashedcds answer..., most CHRs are more urban in the playlist... new guy , new way of doing things

I listened to them on the internet earlier this evening and I heard the voice guy. Seems to me it's Dave Fox... the same guy Q-93 (WQUE) here in New Orleans used for YEARS until CC bought 'em. Then they decided to make 104.1 CHR again, adding Dave as the voice guy of 104.1 KISS-FM.

I enjoyed the imaging on KQID btw! Too bad I can't get a taste of their processing! I'm a "killer processing" freak! :p ;D
 
I enjoyed QID much in the late 80's & early 90's.
One of the few stations of the period to include a large amount of freestyle and dance music.
I had the largest antenna I could buy up in the air for the purpose of getting stations like QID in the MS Delta.

Also enjoyed Energy 96.5 from Houston, SL100 and some others from the coast.

I could listen to QID most nights with some fades during the summer months.
 
That was fine.... BACK THEN. What's up with this station NOW??? Whew. A few good years seem to be lost on a BIG step back in time with the imaging and mix. What ever happened to "if it ain't broke?" Heard it on a drive to Monroe from Lake Charles last week. Used to be one of the better top40s in the region.
