Q-FM-96 no longer "Ohio's Best Rock"

I notice that under Saga Q-FM-96 has now ditched its longtime moniker "Ohio's Best Rock" in favor of "Iconic Rock." IIRC, Q resurrected the "Ohio's Best Rock" positioner (which the station had debuted with in 1977) back when CBS/Infinity bought it in 1998, and Wilks left in it in place after taking over in 2006.

Also, it seems to me that the station has broadened its library somewhat under Saga, playing songs I haven't heard on Q for years (although I'm not a regular listener).

Not surprised. Saga seems to take things seriously with their stations so they are going to likely do some tweaks to ensure success.

They're still around? Actually, I know they are, just have not listened to them for over twenty years. Around the mid 90s I believe. They're format never changed, same old music. Doubt much has changed.

I think QFM sounds better than it has in a long time. It was one of the more stale stations I've ever heard for years. To me at least, it sounded the same in 2011 as it did in 1998. Same slogan, largely the same playlist, many of the same jocks. QFM was long since overdue for some freshening up.
It's on my car presets for the first time in maybe three years, somewhat by default however. Part of that is because I took out the suddenly unstable 93.3 once it switched to Christmas music in November, and less than two weeks after that, the other of my top two presets went away when 95.5 dropped the sports format.
