Q100: AFTER ALL MY RANTINGS...

Q100 is actually sounding better and better and better! :) I REALLY hope this is an upward trend on Cumulus' part and across the board. After all my rantings, I've been listening and I'm hearing that more hip-hop used as recurrents plus, everytime I turn around, I'm hearing something new: East Movement's "Like A G6", Nicki Minaj's "Check It Out" and Cee-Lo's "F**k You".

I know everyone's all up on 1057/96.7 THE GROOVE right now. But, I've given up on it because it's pretty much gone Rhythmic/CHR which is just urban, urban....URBAN! (don't mind it)...BUT, wish they would've held on to SOME of the mainstream pop that they used to play.

My biggest beef with The Groove is that there is still WAY too many areas of Atlanta where NEITHER 105.7 nor 96.7 can be picked up...my finger gets tired of shifting back n fourth between the two frequencies!

And since it seems that Q100 (as of late). Is tending to ALL things popular, then on that I MUST ACTUALLY congradulate them.

(just don't slip)....again. ;D

Wow! This is PRECISELY what I've been beginning to think as of the last few days! As a matter of fact, this is actually specifically what I came in here intending to talk about! I'm just glad that now, to conserve time, I can just easily quote & paste instead. Notice below the things I've been saying over tha last couple of days..

Listen to Q100 for about an hour (a top 40 station that pretty much truly reflects all the hits), and you'll see that 2010 hit music really isn't all that bad - and is actually improving for a change.

B98.5 is really the only thing left that needs some moderate to serious upgrade work.

Well I'm certainly glad that Q100 is being given credit where credit is due because another thing I was going to bring up was the fact that we are quick to criticize, yet when it comes to the good things and praising, the same passionate talk that is used for criticism seems to become non existent. I will admit that being sure to give / show appreciation just as much as delivering "hate speech" (as people like to call anything they don't wish to hear or know) or criticizing on these boards was something I've learned from someone else here (see quote below), so I will not take credit as if what i'm saying now is 100% my idea:

Reading other parts of your post KDM, I have to say this.....

...  Yes, speak your thoughts but do so in a positive and proactive manner because THAT will get you further than just being blunt.  There is a "system" out there in the radio industry and I feel that by working WITH that "system" and doing so without anger or angst, we can make things happen.

When 92.3 Now played Dennis Ferrer's "Hey Hey", I thanked them!  I didn't "force the issue" to do anything radical such as change to a dance format.  If 92.3 Now (or any CHR station in the USA) adds another dance track in their CHR rotation, then as a community we have to be supportive of that.  ....

  Keep it positive bro.  Please.

TS

SO THE MORAL HERE IS WE MUST ALSO SHOW APPRECIATION FOR THE LIKES THE SAME WAY WE ARE QUICK TO CRITICIZE, OR "HATE". (Ever wondered why facebook doesn't have a "dislike" button? Ever notice how many people demand it? I think our priorities should not be on trying to point out ONLY the negatives in others..)

Also notice this:

This is what I mean by keeping things reasonable, BUT still keeping in mind that you can still find ways to make your station more interesting and fun and BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE, ALL THE TIME without losing ratings or going out of business like many people fear will happen if they do anything more than they really have to. It's ok to take risks, have a little fun, and TRY NEW THINGS. Boring, mundane, stale, and just being good enough to beat the next person and then getting upset when someone critique's you about it is not always the answer.

WE ALSO NEED MORE OF THIS:

Anyway, Q and The Groove are once again helping Atl radio to sound better and complete as a whole. By the way, anyone notice the remarkable response The Groove has received here ever since they began to hint they were going to go traditional rhythmic? Also notice they are still playing pop rock on Q, yet I (and even others) ARE/AM SHOWING APPRECIATION! Never did I say anywhere on the world wide web that anyone should change to be 100% they way I like / want it or convert 100% to how it sounds in another specific region.  ;)

105.7 THE GROOVE is waaaaaaaaaaay far from Urban! Now 95.5 The BEAT sounded Urban compared to the sound of Groove. Most of HOT 107.9 and V-103 listeners won't be flipping to 105.7/96.7 during commerical breaks.

Ok - somehow I missed that part, both times I read it!
However, in regards specifically to the Q100 talk, that's what I agree with and show appreciation for. I think Groove is for now just being a basic, proper true rhythmic station, and they are also sounding great. The Friday night mixes are still more ac material, though, but overall Atl radio is more well rounded off.

Once again, I repeat - I have no problems with the current Groove sound. I only came here to agree with and show appreciation in regards to the CURRENT Q100 sound. ;)

No complaints coming out of me.

True Oldies 106.7 has goodtimesandgreatoldies. B98.5 FM has me. Q100 has you.
Are you forgetting someone?
Radio Disney has my daughter, 99X has insideyourhead...

Once Again, tho.

I guess why I really hope that Q100 (as slow as it may seem) will evolve into a PURE CHR (or that Atlanta just GETS ONE from somewhere) is that (just as I mentioned above), when I travel elsewhere and listen to REAL CHR's, the radio just stays right there. I don't have to flip back n fourth, back n fourth....endlessly! And this whole 105.7/96.7 thing is just not working out. Driving down I-85 from Gwinnett Co, as soon as I reach Buckhead and then Midtown Atlanta, there's too much static on BOTH of "the groove"'s frequencies so, as long as Q100 keeps trending more towards PURE-CHR (which remains to be seen at times). I find myself leaving the radio on 99.7. At least no matter where I go from say, the Airport to Gainesville, Q100 has NO STATIC....(Now, if they would just freaking STOP playing Jason Mraz and PINK recurrents day and night...night and day...day and night...night and day, Q would sound that much better! ;D

I read that they're actually going to rerecord that song in order to gain radio airplay, even after the wild success it's enjoyed on the Internet. Anyway, the song will be retitled, "Forget You." This will be more exciting than when Napster became legal. Can't wait...

And one more question... how will this thread about Q100 affect electroboy73? :D

Cee-Lo's song has an obvious gimmick, but it's a REALLY good song with a "retro" sound that has broad appeal.

Q100 has been playing the "Forget You" version for the last week. It is a great song on top of the novelty viral connection.
