Q100 Afternoon & Night Shifts

Q100's afternoon and night shifts have been changed. Dylan is now on 3-7pm (was 3-6pm) and Adam Bomb's show now airs 7pm-12am (was 6-11pm). I always wondered why Dylan's shift was only 3-6pm and the night-time jock signed off at 11pm.

1. Dylan is also the PD of a major market radio station, ergo the shortened shift. He's got alot on his plate.
2. The night show ended at 11 because it began at 6. If you're doing an active 6 hour show, that last hour is going to blow.

Agreed. Hell, doing four and trying to sound ON TOP is hard enough...

So then why the changed? Is having a DJ on an extra hour til midnight (instead of going automated at 11pm) really that important? I don't think so.

Does Q100 have a full time overnight jock? If not, there's your answer. That's one hour less hourly wage to pay. This saves them $3K a year. Huge savings.

There's no DJ overnight. I don't get what you mean by "That's one hour less hourly wage to pay". Night-time jock Adam Bomb is still on for 5 hours (was 6-11, now 7-12). So there's no difference money-wise going automated at midnight instead of 11.

Well...simply, if the night jock is off at 11 pm and they were paying part time money to somebody to be there, that would mean that individual (am I going slowly enough?) would be then paid from 11pm til 530 am (or whenever the Bert show starts) as opposed to 12am to 530 am. See? An hour difference. And I was being facetious about the grand savings they would be reaping.

I guess you are "slow." I just said there is NOT an overnight jock. It's auuttttoooomaaaaateeeeed! There was no DJ from 11pm-5:30am and there is still no DJ from !2am-5:30am. Did you get it this time?

Tommy, notice I said "if"...I was just trying to explain a potential scenario to you. I also like how everyone pans clear channel for voicetracking yet accepts how, apparently, Q100 is "automated" overnight. Hypocrites

Actually, it isn't automated. At least it wasn't before the Cumulus takeover. There was a body in the studio running the board and airing the requests.
