Q100 ATLANTA FALLING "BACK" TO HOT AC DULL-VILLE??

I listen to Q100 at work…which is on all day. It’s the only “well-rounded” CHR Atlanta has….(which is NOT much!) Anyway, since early this year, Q100 has really come into the CHR mainstream and has FINALLY become a more high-energy…(if you will) Top-40. I thought, we finally have a decent pop station here. No more omitting hip-hop/rap during the day, playing more dance club stuff, like La Roux, etc, etc……..BUT, wow….since June began…..

Not only have they "power-increased" playing HOT-AC stuff like PINK's "Sober", DAVID COOK's "Time Of My Life" and JASON MRAZ' "I'm Yours"....(again)! But, they seem to be going longer stretches of playing these lighter songs (before playing a real top-40 song)

A few changes (for the worse) that Q seems to be making.....compared to last month (MAY 2010):

1. Tiao Cruz "Break Your Heart" (no more Ludicris...his rap is totally cut out of the song)
2. Usher's, "OMG" (the most popular Hot 100 song, "most increased plays" EVERYWHERE) But, Q100 only plays this song AT NIGHT....(thought the days of Q doing this were over)! ???
3. Katy Perry "California Gurls" (Sorry, Snoop! Jan Jefferies has cut you out of the record)!
4. Also, Q100 is back to their "steller" music segues! From this past week I heard these songs, all in a row…..as the kids of Atlanta begin they're summer vacation, AND BLASTING "HOT TOP-40" MUSIC BESIDE EVERY POOL IN ATLANTA....... ::)

We hear this........

Lady Antabellum "Need You Now" (into) Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" (into) John Mayer's "Heartbreak Warfare" (into) The Fray's "Never Say Never" (into) Train's "Hey Soul Sister" (into) Natasha Bedingfield's "Posketful Of Sunshine" (into)Kings Of Leon's "Be Somebody"

Q....(Are you kidding me??) Anybody else who thought they were actually sounding a LITTLE bit better as a top 40 and now, it's like it's 2008 all over again.

And before I leave you…..the list below are songs that Q100 was actually starting to play a lot last month and now, for some reason....they hardly get played anymore.

Travie McCoy – “Billionaire” Last month Q played this, night and day … This month, I only hear it on Billy Bush Show at night!
Usher “OMG” (as I mentioned above) (Only heard on Billy Bush/only at night)
Jamie Fox “Winner” last month Q plays it….this month, gone!
Black Eyed Peas “Rock That Body” (Only heard on Billy Bush/only at night)
B.o.b feat. Hayley Williams “Airplanes” (Q used to pay this but now, only heard on Billy Bush/only at night)

Thanks Q, for giving Atlanta (at least a slight taste) of a real Top40 station.

But, now…..why fall back?

Any thoughts?

I never actually liked this station, nor do I actually like the other Cumulus CHRs. They're considered "Adult Top 40" so that's why they sound like a hot AC.

I think it's a waste of time keeping my hopes up for and following Atlanta anymore. After all these years, I should know better! Why do I continue to have wishful thoughts and hope for something that apparently will never happen there? Why do I still even care today when I no longer live there? Oh well.... it really sucks. The Bermuda Triangle of Traditional Top 40 Radio.. It JUST cannot happen in Atlanta!

I guess the new Ne-yo wont get played either :( but I'm sure BPM on Sirius will play it. If people in L.A. think they've got it bad, well, just go to Atlanta and see what's going on. You are not going to hear your "I like that" by Richard Vission there. I think after all I've heard from people from facebook to newstalk radio to ...etc, this past week has been national "L.A. sucks" week. Well... looks as if Atlanta is still worse, top 40 and rhythmic-wise.

You know, I think Clear Channel had the opportunity when they had the chance. They should've switched to CHR as soon as they switched from their former "Peach" AC format back in '06 (the reason I didn't say 105.7 is because they have a weak signal).
Somebody needs to do something... really, how can the #7 market, even a huge music town NOT have a CHR? I feel bad for you Atlantans. Hopefully something pops up soon.

An Atlanta station that cuts out Ludacris' part from a #1 Pop hit? Isn't Luda from Atlanta?

Well C-Side and Danity Kane where from Atlanta, too, and their entire songs were cut out of radio.
Well, .... Star did at least eventually play Danity Kane all by themselves, but other than that, nope. No Danity Kane for Atlanta.
We surely did enjoy that C-Side record though, although it did seem like Las Vegas played it a lot more than we did in Phoenix.
"Boyfriend / Girlfriend" is such a great song.

It's sad to know that Q100 has started turning to crap. They were one of the best CHRs out there when Susquehanna owned them.

Same could be said for Houston's 104 KRBE as well.

I live in Dallas and Cumulus-owned KLIF i93 is very heavy on Rhythmic and they play all the "rap" parts in all those songs...I wonder why they can do it here but not Atlanta.

I think stations including the rap are in the "norm", so don't be so shocked if your station is one that is playing the rap. It's the ones who aren't doing it that are the weird kids in the class. ;D

I could understand if we were back in 1994 and we were still debating on whether or not La Bouche and Outthere Brothers sounds better with more or less rap, but after 2000-2008, we should all be used to rap by now! No need to go back to the days where we played the rapless version of Quad City Dj's "the train".

As far as the Taio Cruz song, I think that one by itself could've still made it in the U.S. without the rap added in. Same with Jay Sean's "down"... but still!

Thats why the groove stepped in and is now a Rhythmic Dance ChR instead of Hot AC.. You still have the Groove for now.. I love Rhythmic AC,, and im glad they still do some back in the day stuff, but at least they are filling the hot chr,, dancepop rhythmic void, cause The Beat and star are a joke.. hot and V are good, but they are Urban.
