Q100 Mix Shows

I've been out of ATL for a while, last i heard Q was doing a Friday Night Q and Saturday Night Q, then After Q. Those mix shows still exist?

They used to do a the Saturday Night Q live from Club Euphoria in Buckhead after they first launched in 2000. I think that the club is closed down and now they do shows heavily focused on hip hop. I know that 95.5 The Beat also did mix shows on Saturday Night but they also went the hip hop route. It would be nice to get some mix shows back on the weekend. If nothing else, they could rebroadcast the Open House Party on Saturday night. It would fit perfectly into the Q or Star format.

Atlanta needs more variety of mix shows.

99X used to have a killer one in 'Xcelerator'.... they did a excellent job of straddeling Alt and Dance.

While 95.5 The Beat's show is OK.. there is nothing to distinguish it from V or Hot's. They had a really good one when the switched to all rhythm back in 2001.

Q100's mix show on Saturday is decent; however, it is way too repetitive, you hear the same songs week after week. While I like how they break it out by DJ, it definetly needs an infusion of more pop and or club hits.

Star 94's is / was boring. The segueways are monotonous and uninspired. Q's does a really good job of this (even though, if you listen to the program often enough, you know what is going to follow for they follow the same song and dance predictably.).

Bring back Open House Party - awesome show with a lot of personality. Wish it hadn't been relegated to small-market status.

Doesn't Open House Party originate from Boston and DC? What makes the local PDs think that it can't work in Atlanta?

Duh, the same reason it works and has worked in dozens of other markets?

OHP, with John Garabedian, originates form his house outside metro Boston where he has a personal helipad and landing strip.

I believe you can pick up Open House Party from a station in Macon; I remember picking it up from Macon as well as Columbus one weekend while in the area. Also, 103.7Q outta Birmingham has it.

In terms of mix shows, for those that live in the NE quadrant of the state, you can pick up a 'Hot Mix' type of show out of Greenville-Spartanburg / B93.7. They have a strong signal that sometimes penetrates Gwinnett Co.

And talking about 'Hot Mix'... I miss that show.
