Q100 overpromoting their promotions.

Q100 spends more time about talking about their promotions than any station I know. They have spent hours plugging the upcoming Q 1 on 1 concert with Gavin DeGraw.
The show is only for 50 winners and their guests.
Id like to go but I have to win tickets ? Ok fat chance that's going to happen. But I want to go. How much are the tickets ?

Ok shut up Q100....now you're pissing me off .

First off, I don't think you can over promote a promotion...esp in CHR radio. Most (if not all) stations talk about their promotions. Its all about a larger than life "image". Freak out the guys across the street and let them interpret the promotion.

Secondly, think of it from a listener standpoint (you know, the people who have a life outside of radio and radio-info). They don't listen as much as we do...so the jocks talk about it constantly to get it through to every listener...the ones just tuning in, and the ones just tuning out. CHRs are nortorious for their short TSLs ya know.

We tell our clients you're wasting your money if you're not buying a 3-3.6 frequency, the least we should do is give that kind of frequency to our own promos. With a low TSL CHR that may be 50-60 spots a week. It's not over promotion its savvy marketing.
