Q100 Power Increase is Near

I've been told by people at Susquehanna that the FCC has approved the deal between Susquehanna and Clear Channel for Q100 to increase its power to 12.6kw from the same site at about the same antenna height. Q will reach farther into Gwinnett with a slight null in that direction. Subsequent paperwork has been filed with the FCC by Susquehanna. They're thinking it might be as soon as next month.

Mark Renier confirms Roddy's post

I just spoke with Mark Renier, GM at Q100. He confirmed Roddy's post and is hoping the FCC can give the A-OK within two weeks. From there, Q100 can immediately run up 50% power, do some tests and then have it fully amped within two weeks after that. So we may hear the full-signal Q100 by Halloween, which he said gives them a much fairer playing field in the seven major metro Atlanta counties, including Gwinnett. So the station will no longer be able to use the "we are on a weaker signal" excuse for ratings performance vs. Star and the Beat. This is going to make an already tight race tighter.

So what does that other construction permit mean? The one that has them moving down off the southwest end of the perimeter at 27,000 watts at a lower height.

They were going to move to WAMJ-FM's site and be 27,000 watts at a lower height. But that CP wasn't going to do much for them.

What do people think of Q100's audio processing? It's just nothing special to me and sounds very flat.

That flatness tends to only go away after you get really close to the transmitter in downtown. I have noticed once you get to the downtown connector the sound is very clear. Out here in Gwinnett it is very flat and that country noise from Greenville always spills into 100.5 in the morning. I hope the upgrade fixes all of this!
