I won't totally dog it, and I DO understand. If Q100 was on a 100kw signal in the perimeter, it would likely just level the playing field and stand toe-to-toe with Star, at best...edging Star in younger demos.
Outside of The Bert Show (which I will give high marks for execution and low marks for ingenuity), Q100 is an o.k. to alright CHR station. Nothing faaaaabulous.

I won't totally dog it, and I DO understand. If Q100 was on a 100kw signal in the perimeter, it would likely just level the playing field and stand toe-to-toe with Star, at best...edging Star in younger demos.

Apparently your brain is DEAD !!! Advertisers do look at all numbers. Their are only 2 radio stations in the US that bring in more revenue than Star. So brain dead, you statement is truly DEAD !!! Advertsiers DO look at 12+ numbers. Bert show does not have a ice cubes chance in hell of winning ANYTHING they are nominated for. They didn't even win the local competition. (ie--access atlanta poll) What makes you think they can win a national one? Steve and Vikki have been around this city for years and probably are not going nowhere until they want too. In the grand scheme of things, 12+ DOES NOT count. We can only go by 12+ here because it's the only numbers Arbitron lets us have access to. What matters most to advertisers are 18+.

It's gonna be hard to beat Steve & Vicki, given the longevity they have, but the Bert Show has beaten S&V in the more younger demos, so they obviously can compete. I'll go on record and say the Bert Show does have the best morning show in America and I've listened to morning shows in places like Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix, to name a few. I've yet to find a morning show as good as the Bert Show.

The fact is that advertisers do look at 12+ too. Who do you think dictates POP culture? Clothes, music, etc. It's the young people. They have the most expendable money. Kid wants....mommy and daddy buy it..plan and simple. So to not pay attention to the younger demos for a advertiser is just plan not good economics! You even mention it yourself. makes money with a THREE THOUSAND WATT SIGNAL!!! no they will NEVER be a 12+
player if their signal only reaches 75% of the market in car and 35% in
buildings. but they have seriously impacted star 94. Star has completely
changed their station to compete with Q: personality PM show that is a
carbon-wannabe of The Bert Show; Usher, Outkast, 50 Cent now play on a
station that refused to play any black artist 3 years ago; new "younger"
night show. 3 kw vs 100 kw is not a fair fight. But Q has hung in there. Q
beats them in taregt demos. I give them props for sticking with it. I for
one hope to see them win.
