Oh so this is why all the dance music disappeared from Q100 out there in Atlanta?
I was very excited for Atlanta that they finally got dance music being introduced to the people on a large scale, but then both stations went and changed.
Well... It's not like I can say much for being here in Phoenix because we just lost our all dance station about a month ago, and our hip hop leaning top 40 station doesn't really want to play or even mix it in mix shows. As a matter of fact, all our rhythmic and rhythmic top 40 stations who almost all sound alike and are fighting over who should get to use the "Arizona's #1 hit music station" slogan, refuse to play any dance.
Congratulations to 95.1 Latino Vibe - at least they play dance and latin booty bass with their spanish pop, r&b, hip hop, latin hip hop, rock en espanol, and reggaeton. Club 95 Latino Vibe - Nice Spanglish station.
There is actually more dance on Atlanta radio than there is here now for the first time in...... well, ever! Our dance station went on to become a classic hip hop station, which will probably be the next big move in radio as current hip hop continues to decline and the next big thing in music approaches... Hip hop has passed it's peak and as music changes and evolves, it will be harder for stations playing nothing but hip hop or r&b & hip hop to remain high on the charts. Eventually pop will have to be added to those stations, such as huge hits similar to those from Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Kevin Rudolph...
I know Atlanta market is very unique, but all these changes will eventually catch up to Atlanta and stations (rhythmic, urban, and top 40) will be forced to evolve to keep up with the times. It took long enough for Atlanta just to get Q100 and 95.5 The Beat to begin with. Not to mention, Viva 105.7.
