KJ Karson and More Q100-Related Banter

KJ Karson came from Mix 93.3 in Kansas City (possible Dylan link here?) doing...ah crap, can't remember, I think either late nights or swing. I haven't heard him, but if he's as good as you say, I wouldn't mind. Who knows, maybe he could do full time late nights, since I believe that's automated at the Q?
In other Q100 news, Thomas Crone was recently upped to APD/MD. Good for him, but the one suggestion I might make is to play a little less recurrents during the day. Don't get me wrong, a good recurrent mix can make a CHR sound kick-ass, and it's not necessarily that the selection is bad, but maybe try to break a few new records during the day instead of playing some track from 2002, ya know?
Oh yes, and the ReelWorld Z100 '05 NRG package sounds GREAT on Q100! That top of hour...damn...
I really think Q100 is easily the best CHR in Atlanta. They've been promoting heavily, and they've got some good on-air contests coming up as well. I don't understand why, especially with the upped signal, they can't seem to increase in the ratings. Sure, I can see where Star has the 25-54 loyalty, but Q100 has a fresher sound than them (and The Beat too, for that matter, which just seems STALE, although that's another conversation altogether), with solid jocks and on-air presentation. That having been said, judging by the clear effort that has been put in, I doubt Q100 is about to be given up on, but if the ratings are still this week six months down the line, some big changes may be in order.
Finally, I truly hope that Cumulus does NOT F Q100 up the way they have their other CHR's. Look at the playlists for small-market CHR's...seems that the music for all of them is being done by the same person? The ish that they're trying to pull in Macon, Melbourne, Youngstown, and Savannah (Read: all-over-the-road CHR) will absolutely not fly in Atlanta, especially with Star 94 in the fold. It would be a damn shame for a perfectly good station like Q100 to go down the drain due to poor programming decisions, which hasn't seemed to be a problem in the past.
