Q101.9 says adios to Delilah??

I noticed that Delilah has been replaced by Lori Bradley.

The problem Q wasn't just with Delilah. It's also the presentation of the station, tired a$$ imaging from the 80's and poor music selection.

Q101.9 "Family First"....STFU!!!!

I would like for CC to blow up Q and try one of the following formats- Gen X, Rhythmic AC or even Alternative Rock.

Gen X would create problems for Jack & Magic
Rhythmic AC would create problems for KTFM, Magic and maybe The Beat.
Alternative Rock would nail the coffin shut on KISS.

I'm pretty sure you're not in KQXT's target audience. I'm also pretty sure KQXT has made a ton of money for CC over the years. They're not going to blow it up.

Perhaps over the years but what are they billing at now is the real question.....

That's a huge story - Delilah no longer nights on KQXT. She'd been there for most of a decade pulling in strong numbers. She, if you were to judge by "diary" numbers, was THE star of the station. But it truly is a different world - this PPM world. She's just not doing very well. Delilah built strong loyalty - so when a listener sat down to fill out her Arbitron diary, she'd write down "Delilah" whether she actually was listening or not. PPM does not lie - and loyalty is not a factor unless you really do listen. The truth - people were not listening to Delilah.

It would be cool to make Q101.9 into a great dance station like 101.9 The Vibe... A station similar to 94.5 The Vibe, which is electronic dance/nightclub music for Las Vegas, NV.

Whenever I am in New Braunfels or SA, I never listen to Q. There is nothing about this station that draws me in to listen.

For years I used to compare Soft Rock/Q101.9 with Magic 95.5, because I always considered them the same station. Now when I listen, they sound like two different stations.... Magic is a true Soft Rock/Adult Contemporary station, while Q seems more AC/Hot AC. I can understand why Delilah felt out of place at Q, its because she WAS out of place at Q.

She was the staple of Q101.9. On 6 nights a week with 7 hours each of those nights.

I also noticed Q101.9 begging for advertiser with one or two spots each hour.

ps somebody will go alternative before too long.

My bet on that would be 106.7 as the New 106.7X Alternative. Since it's owned by Cox I am almost sure it would be Alternative and Local like 101X in Austin.

DJ Ron Wilder used to be on Soft Rock 101.9 (I have a aircheck of this) back in 2000. He is now at KKMJ Majic 95.5 Austin.

Highly unlikely since KISS is also owned by Cox Radio.

I see alternative rock or talk more viable on 101.9 than dance. No way CC is going to flip their big money making A/C for dance. Maybe tweak it to a pure hot AC like KHMX in Houston but that's it.

The Emmis cluster in Austin owns KROX, and KLBJ. KLBJ is rock and KROX is alternative. So it is possible.

Clear Channel might give up on 92.5's current talk format and flip it to WOAI-FM, but I doubt they would try that on 101.9.

Its just a matter of time until we hear of a WOAI-FM in San Antonio. 101.9 is a good frequency to place it on, but who knows with Clear Channel.

Clear Channel owns some of the best radio stations in the country, but honestly, their worst radio cluster is in their home market of San Antonio.

Two different companies with two different views.

Also, KISS hasn't been doing so well since the PPM rolled out. Adding another competitor by the same company would be a mistake.
