Q101 in Albany has vanished

a format flip would be stupid! they are the only CHR in town and pull respectable numbers. last i heard, they had one of the few live morning shows in the market that played music.they already have 2 country stations, 2 hip hop, 2 Adult R&B, 2 AC's, a Hot AC that barely pulls numbers....maybe another gospel station?? If they flip, that will give clear channel the chance to launch one of their CHR's, if they can pick up another signal.

Cazper is now doing the production, remotes and promos for them now.... It was a business move, basically all he eluded too. All the staff has been relieved.... the guy they had in the morning jammed the mic pretty good..

not sure what that move wa supposed to do except drop their numbers.. I thought the format sounded great (even though I am not a fan of the format they did it very well) I do not think they gave it enough time... but Cazper basically told me all full time have been let go on that station

ok heres the low down at cumulus in Albany.

WNUQ formally Q101 is now urban AC V 101.7 Albany's R&B leader.

WZBN formally Blazin 102.1 then a Silmulcast of V105 is now Top 40 as Q102 Albany's #1 hit music station.

WQVE 105.5 is simulacasting with WNUQ 101.7 for the time being......a new format is coming soon.

I noticed on fccinfo.com that 102.1 got the WQVE calls while 105.5 got WZBN. Any ideas on why the flip? What was the point?

OK let me get this Straight

101.7 was TOP 40 and now Urban AC
102.1 was Urban AC and now TOP 40
105.5 was and Still is a Simulcast of the Urban AC

Quick Question which Freq. has the Stronger Stick? Also if this is just a Freq. Swap why was the staff let go? I think there is more to this?

I just looked up the demographics of this area From what I seen and the Ratings I think Q will change to a CHR/Rhythmic a similar format but A little more Hip Hop in it and less Rock. As Far as the simulcast I guess 1 of the Stations may go Gospel? Smooth Jazz? or Maybe even Rhythmic AC(Movin') that is the new HOT format this year.

Ok you got the Frequencies right.

101.7 is 328' and now 6k watts instead of 3k and is located in the center of Albany. I think that was a move to get more building penatration to increase numbers against 98.1 Kiss FM.

102.1 is like 259' 6k watts and is located in the heart of Worth County or Sylvester. The signal is horrible in the Albany area. And now the Top 40 format is now fully automated (satellite). But who knows they could go Rhythmic.

105.5 is 276' and 6k watts and is located in north central Mitchell County. Once again the signal is weak in the City of Albany. Don't really know the plans for the station other than the Urban AC format will not be on there long. I'm looking more towards Black Gospel or even a FM sports or talk station. I doubt the rhythmic or moving format due to the competetion it might put up against Cumulus Urban AC V101.7. But who's to say that cumulus will not try the mainstream urban format again.
