Q101 station name

All Clear Channel stations in the last few years have chaged most of their station names to include the "POINT" when they say it....even if it doesn't flow as good. Most recently, it happened (sort of again) in Milwaukee with V100 becoming V100 POINT 7.

We've seen the rebirth of "The Killer Bee" B96.......but now its B96 POINT 3. Luckily, it flows nicely for them. Even the phenomenon of calling a station a highway number has worn out since the 80s and US99 has become US99.5

Can we see in the future Q101 becoming "Q101 POINT 1?" That's a mouthfull of "ONES" to say that I can agree does not flow very easily. But you wonder if they are getting ate up in ratings partly from incorrect logs from 101.9?

Any other stations in the market that don't use their full frequency yet in their names?

Gotta wonder if some of 9's ratings are going to 99.5 and 92.3! Vice-versa, maybe some of 92.3's numbers are going to 92.5 When written fast, a 3 can look like a 5 no problem.

I'm old enough to remember the history of all this. From the 50's FM stations always gave their complete frequency, example 100.1. In the early 70's they'd call it just FM100 or something like that, because older radios had those "slide rule" tuning pointers which were never exact anyway, so "FM100" would work fine and be easier to remember. In the 90's all radios came with digital tuners, so people would get confused and stations went back to the complete frequency again.
The best example of this, WBBM AM Radio was "NewsRadio 78" for over 30 years. They had to change to "NewsRadio 780" when callers actually called to say, "I can't find your station, my AM radio doesn't tune below 540!"

V-100 was "V 100 dot 7" for a time in the 90s. I would say POINT would be better then dot.

But indeed a lot of stations are doing that.
______________

WIIL used "95-1 THE Rock Station" for a short time. It didn't work so they went right back to 95 WILL Rock.
______________

They tried 95.1 The Rock Station, but everyone still called them 95 Will Rock, so they went back to it.

It's like LAZER103 in Milwaukee. I don't believe they ever did or will ever use LAZER102.9. It'll always be LAZER103.

Okay, I have to laugh at myself for this one because as soon as I posted it, I found out that LAZER103 will never be LAZER103 again. Oink, oink.

And doesn't KSHE in St. Louis still call themselves K-SHE 95 (they are at 94.7 as well)?

Yup...
