Q1019's Sunday Morning Jazz

I was very surprised to hear this is still on the air. I used to listen to the show years ago but assumed it wasn't on the air anymore since KQXT rebranded as Q1019 in the late 00s and tweaked to a hot ac format. Also surprised to hear David Munoz is still hosting the show and is very informative about the artists and upcoming events (his daughter attended the same school as me and also lived in the same neighborhood growing up). It was great to hear stuff from Pat Metheny, Hiroshima, Dave Koz and even Donald Fagen. Luckily, I brought my radio and some blank tapes and captured this past Sunday's show. I will definitely wake up early Sunday and stream the station via IHeartRadio.

I caught a minute or two of the show yesterday.
Gotta love people who really do a great job!

Munoz has been at KQXT for quite some time, he used to be on KCJZ during the Smooth Jazz format, and KTFM during the Disco era.

Nice to have that option since KKMJ in Austin stopped airing Smooth Jazz around 2007, and KHYS/KJOJ Houston ceased to do a Jazz show since 1997 when it flipped to Dance.

Bob-Fm KBPA Austin used to air a Smooth Jazz channel on it's HD format, before Mega launched on HD-2.

I still have a Musical Starstreams tape from June of 1998 from now defunct KCJZ. I taped it on a late 90's TDK MA-X tape, I had to swap out the shell because it broke.

Don't ever remember Munoz being in the building when we did KCJZ, but I left before it flipped to whatever it was...David is THE jazzman for San Antonio, and no doubt he has done the best job ever promoting the format and playing the music and being sharp enough to sell it to the advertisers. Big round of applause for Mr Munoz...
