Thoughts?:
Q102's chio in the morn had BAM's ex GF talking on friday-- dishing dirt about jessica simpson and bam and all that. She talked about Viva la bam and all that too. I didnt get to catch all of it, but just listened to it on Q's website. It was compelling radio for chicks like me who love gossip. Just wondered what other people thought, and i know most of you are guys on this board and prob don't care about about celeb gossip, but if you do, post away.

Compelling radio for chicks?

Funny, maybe I'm an out of touch male, but I always thought in order for the word "compelling" to be thrown on in adjective form, the noun being described had to compel you to do something.

It used to be Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Jackie Kennedy, Sandra Day O'Connor, Barbara Bush, et al used to be where compelling anything came from for women (and men for that matter). If this is now the case that gossip about someone that used to star on "Jackass" and a woman who openly pokes fun at her own stupidity is the source of "compelling radio," I'm sorry that it's come to this.

My apologies in advance if I've offended.

I was amazed a couple years ago when I saw so many radio employment ads asking for compelling talent to apply. I don't know who started using that word in ads but I think they should be shot. It's ridiculous unless you're looking for a Rush Limbaugh, Howard Stern or Imus..maybe.

I took compelling to mean as someone who could keep listeners coming back for more each day. If targeting a female audience..unfortunately the marjority of females listening to contemporary radio (like a Q102) are simple ones that revolve their lives around tv programs and gossip.

I could not relate to most of my female co-workers lately when American Idol was on because I never watched the show. But they do get absorbed by the show
amd talk about celebrities lives constantly. Radio tends to mirror tv in the last 20 years or so.

Compelling radio is anything that makes you want to listen. Male, female, it doesn't matter what your gender. Subject doesn't matter, if it's interesting and makes you want to continue to listen, that is the very definition of compelling radio.
Yes, for many, that was compelling radio.

Isn't it frightening what people in this country find to be entertainment these days?
