Q102 Drops the F-Bomb on Morning Show

Just before 8:00am this morning on the Q102 Morning Show - Chio In The Morning Show a caller talking about stupid things he has done while drunk dropped the F-Bomb while describing his story and it went out over the air! The morning show seemed completely shocked when their dump machine apparently failed and the bomb dropped on live radio. After the incident, you could hear the hosts scrambling to cover up their mistake but to no avail. Now this happened the day Chio (the main host) came back from his "DJ Boot Camp" in Louisiana... In addition to that, the Program Director also put the morning show's latest bit - "The Diego Phone Poll" - on hold for questionable content. Seems the morning show is going threw some rough times...

largely because it sucks stale air. Their "war of the Roses" gimmick is old and stupid. Chio in the morning is just an old horse that needs to be put out to pasture. I'm probably going to get flammed for saying that, so I'm sorry for any flames that follow.

I, for one, totally agree. The show is awful and Chio absolutely personfies the term "has-been." I like the girl on that show though. She deserves better. Unfortunately, when CC comes to their senses and fires Chio and stupid little Diego, they'll probably let her go too.

PS- I don't care if I get flamed! Ha ha!

Make that the whole station, their numbers seem to be stuck in nuetral and the airstaff has become a revolving door.

First off, WAR is done and has been for MONTHS I've heard them say that and its not on on thursdays anymore if you listen for it.

Second, if you had a radio job yourself (which you dont cubicle man), you would have access to the numbers and see that the Q102 morning show numbers have consistantly been climbing over the past few books. If only my morning show could beat them....(and no I dont work for PST).

Third, if you actaully KNEW about the radio business, you would know a morning show is not responsible for the dump machine breaking and bad content going out, FCC says you just must hang up on that caller, which is sounds like they did.

Fourth, The Diego phone poll seems to be a BIT...maybe the PD part was a bit too?

Fifth, the only thing being let go from that show is is your girlfriend when she left Diego's hotelroom last night! GET A JOB BITCHES!!! WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS HATE ON THESE THINGS??

i work elsewhere and have to give these guys props...after all these years they still have a big ass following, we should all wish that we have that one day...

ANGER!!! Lots and lots and lots of anger. Take some pills my friend before the aneurisms start. Q-102 sucks. Plain and simple. Sucks. I used to think they had a better playlist and interesting talent compared to Z100 NYC. Realizing that all CC stations tend to be the same, stale, plastic, repetitive, watered down crap during the morning hours, I've given up comparing. Q102 is slowly going down the tubes, clear as day. CC needs to come up with a plan soon, cuz Chio is a 'has-been'. He was when when I first started listening to him in 1999, and quite honestly, not an impressive show. The War of the Roses bit might have been old on Q102, but on CC owned WKTU 103.5 NYC, it's one of the most popular bits in the mornings. I think it depends on who does it. Chio brought no life to it. No laughter, no drama. Baltazar and Goumba Johnny can at least make it funny. Chio, time to go!

The FCC won't care about the dump machine breaking. The content aired
and the station and jocks are responsible. Since the Janet Jackson "malfunction", rule of thumb is have a backup plan (ie- dump and delay).
If there is no backup plan it's simple: DON'T AIR LIVE CALLS.
I know because I just went through training on this. They were
emphatic about it. According to my training, the "F" bomb is inexcusable.

THANK YOU!!

Somebody has their head on straight regarding that one. If someone has that tape, send it right away to the FCC.

The problem with the FCC, however, in my honest opinion, is they choose who to fine and for what. They have a 'self-serving agenda', just like everyone else. So if Q102 and CC Philly don't get fined or punished here, there will be plenty of heck to pay...especially when CC worldwide is the one that has promoted 'more quality programming.'

Did anyone notice that CC got fined nearly half a million bucks because the 'n' word aired on Howard Stern by accident a year or two ago before CC got rid of his show in those 6 markets? And tell me this: were any of the other companies that aired Howard (Citadel, Cumulus, Infinity, Entercom, Nassau, etc.) fined for that same incident from the other 34 stations that may have aired that?

We never got an explantion for that and I think the radio community deserves a truthful answer!
______________

That's a terrrible suggestion. Anyone who rats out a station to the FCC just to cause trouble is a moron. That's just what we need. More intervention by the capricious, megalomanical, conservative government agency. We should be fighting against the FCC, not helping them fine people in their McCarthyistic, communist witch-hunt type of crusade.

If you are the type of person who would send a tape to the FCC, may your karma be having your live ruined by repetitive audits from the IRS. It would serve you right

Regardless of numbers, the consensus here is that Q102 is thin plastic that sucks the air their carrier signal rides on. The only thing going for them is Richie Rich's mixes. But how many times during one day can you feature one man before you hit overkill.

Q102 is another example of how Philly love tradition. It's not going away anytime soon.

OK, maybe I was commenting out of irate frustration, causing me to promote people to 'send a tape'. So I'll be the first to apologize for that. However, for a company to promote more 'quality programming' and have this alleged 'f-bomb' happen only puts egg on their face if it really did happen.

I'd never send a tape to the FCC, and I understand that if they get enough complaints from people about what allegedly happened they'd investigate this particular situation. I haven't seen anything on AllAccess yet, so we may have to wait a week or two for all the facts to come out, but then again, everything may be swept under the rug by then.

However, the point I was trying to make was that I believe the FCC picks and chooses who to fine and for what.

If nothing is done about this, either this really did not happen (which is what I am hoping for) or it did happen and the FCC decided to ignore the situation because not enough people complained. Then the fault falls on CC for covering-up to save themselves from losing more inaccurate ratings points. Whether they deal with the situation internally is their business--and if this 'f-bomb' really happened, it should be dealt with.
______________

I'm not sure how any of that changes anything that was said previously. (Besides the War of the Roses faux pas. And, you can't really blame anyone for not knowing the bit was dropped.)

This thread actually prompted me to give Q102 another listen this morning. Still tired, still bland, still cartoonishly over-the-top.

But these are just opinions (and popular ones obviously). We're all allowed to have opinions. There's no reason to go on the offense like that. Umm, is there?

If the F bomb slipped by on that show, it's probably the most entertaining thing that happened all week. The only people who might complain to the FCC are those idiot jobless freaks who spend their days and nights looking for something to complain about. (What was that bitch's name? Terry Rakolta? The one who tried to get "Married...With Children" taken off the air so many years ago, only to end up boosting the show's profile, thus making the FOX network what it is today? She probably still has trouble sleeping over that one!)
