WQLF 102.1 in Lena recently moved from classic hits to a 60's thru 80's oldies type format as "Musicradio Q102".

I happen to like q102 now. they play a good variety of music. with the eagle, y95 and WIBA all playing the same songs over and over it is nice that they have the balls to do something different instead of what the radio programmers tell them to play. some of there new jingles sound like old WLS jingles.

i have to agree i drove through there last week..and I really did like the variety too. engineer coming out in me...did they sound over modulated to you?

They do seem to be overmodulated. A little less of "we want to be really loud on the dial" thinking would be nice.

They do seem a little over modulated, but I think it may be how the music is loaded onto their hard drive... Some of the music sounds like it came off of real LP's and not CD's and not recorded correct... As for the format I really like Q... I know that a lot of people don't like how Scott runs his stations, but he is trying different things something that big gun radio companies should think about... Q boast over 3000 songs to choose from... Here in Rockford your lucky if any station even has a 300 song library... CC1

If you were going to design a radio playlist to kill yourself by, Q102 would be the place to off yourself! I think.

Mitch - that's funny!I understand the "need" for variety, but I don't know if i can take one more day hearing songs like "Snoopy versus the Red Baron", was that even a hit?Just because you have 3,000 songs or what ever, doesn't mean you're going to find "gold" in every one.

well, something needs to be said about variety. I don't know if the answer is 3,000 songs how are they being scheduled? and what about the oh wow impact?
