Reply to peteandrepeat - if you were a real radio pro, you'd know that "Snoopy" was a huge hit in 1966....peaking at #2. We do not boast a 3000 song playlist - just that we have the biggest on-air music library around (more than 500 or 600 songs). While all the corporate owned stations use consultants that tell all their clients to play the same 500 songs over and over again (that would make me want to kill myself), we are locally owned and we play what the listeners ask for. If they want to hear "Snoopy", we'll play it. We won't please everyone, but we're trying. Reply to CrazeeCarroll1 - Q102 (and K92 for that matter) is not overmodulated. They do appear to be loud, and that may be the way the processor is set up. I will talk to the engineer about that. I visit the transmitter site weekly and the mod monitor does not indicate any overmodulation. We have not changed the processing since the day Q went on the air. That was set up by the engineers that did the transmitter site installation. We have not touched the processing on K92....we left that the way that Maverick Media set it up. That will change and soon you will notice a much better sound on our stations with the installation of new equipment!Regarding the source of our music, every song is ripped in to the digital system from CD. We do not use records, tapes or mp3's. I am very particular on quality. In fact, some of our stations are in the process of converting everything over to uncompressed wave files.In regards to the way Scott operates his stations, he is one of the best owners I've worked for! Just ask any of us who used to work in Freeport prior to joining Scott....and we'll all tell you the same thing. Many of you who have posted here about our stations think too much like consultants. Both Scott and I agree that we want to be different than any other station out there. The Eagle and Y95 use 2 different consultants, yet they both pretty much play the same songs. ZOK and Z104....the same scenario. Why be like all the other stations out there? We are offering our listeners something uniquely different....that's because we are locally owned (very few of those stations around anymore) and we have the resources to do so. When I used to work part time at Oldies 95.3, I filled in several times for Chuck Diamond. The 5 0'clock all request hour is not what it was cracked up to be. The entire hour was scheduled except for 2 positions. You could only play songs from the "safe list" that was in the audio vault. If someone requested "Snoopy".....forget about it.......BUT, if someone requested "The Twist"....no problem. Listeners are tired of hearing the same songs shoved down their throat day after day.We have nothing to hide at our stations.
