Q104.3 adding a new cut or two?

...Earlier this afternoon, I caught them playing Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams....rather new for a classic rock station, at least in my opinion. Could they be trying to play a game of chess against the new K-Rock or even Jack FM? Just an effort to improve the station's demos overall? Or is this song testing exceptionally well in their focus groups?

Q 104's PD Bob Buckman has been programming a few carefully selected so called future Classics sprinkled in for the past few years (Including Velvet Revolver , Lenny Kravits, Green Day a well as New Songs classic artist such Santana and Fleetwood Mac) there was a article about Buckman and his Strategy in the Daily News or the post around 2 or 3 years ago.

When K-Rock was Classic Rock, they used to do Then and Now sets.

The difference was that K Rock only played new releases from classic rock artists, such as the Stones and Eric Clapton, in a feature called "Yesterday and Today." Q is now labeling early 90's rock as classic rock.
