Q104.3 Audio Mixing?!

Has anyone else noticed that periodically during certain songs on Q104.3 the audio is all screwed up? Either the vocals are real low and the instrumental is high or vice versa. It happened the other day on a Jimi Hendrix song, but has also happened on the Beatles "While my guitar gently weeps", etc, etc...

Whenever I'm down in the area, I've noticed that there's something funny about Q104.3's audio as well. It seems like they're never broadcasting in true stereo, and with lots of classic rock songs from bands like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and others, the true stereo should be there. I notice some stereo, but not like I hear on a station like WZLX in Boston.

Maybe it's the sacrifice that stations make when there's 15 stations broadcasting from the same exact location. The audio doesn't sound great on any NYC station come to think of it. The audio lacks a lot of depth and sounds very tinny. I've noticed this on a lot of NYC stations, like WAXQ, WPLJ, WHTZ, WQHT, WCBS and WNEW. Any thoughts?

Why is that? What ever happened to just playing the music without any type of compression or audio mixing?

They may be messing with their HD. The Q is running a HD2 channel, there are several fine adjustments that have to be made to their main channel audio so it syncs up with the HD stream.
