WAXQ ( Q104.3 ) New York PD Bob Buchmann will leave the station at the end of his current contract, which end in two weeks.

i just saw this on another board and on R&R - this is one that I don't think ANYBODY saw coming - wasn't Buchmann there when 104.3 tried to briefly return as WNCN??

Metheny leaves 5 of the top ten stations in the market, including #1 and #2. Those are mighty big shoes to fill, and his shoes are probably walking into something pretty great.

Huh? What market?
Kevin M hasn't worked in NY since "double-yuh-annnnnnnnn-bee-cee"
Are you responding to a post on another board?

At the rate that Randy Michaels' Tribune Broadcasting has been hiring Clear Channel radio people for their tv group, maybe they'll get Bob to be GM of WPIX-TV! ;)

Clear Channel owns the station. Clear Channel is going private. That means money is going to get tight as they trim. First to go are expensive people. PD's are considered expensive even though logic says they are necessary. He will NOT be replaced.

No, he wasn't. He came in after Kurt Johnson, Dave Richards, and Steve Young in 1999. It was WAXQ for 6 years at that point (3 as Pure Rock, 3 as Classic Rock).

There's always an excuse, it seems. When the company is public, money is tight because shareholders demand more and more profits. Now that they're private, money is once again tight because they have to "trim." It seems that this "trimming" has been going on for a while.

The bottom line is, CC has done it again. They butchered Lite FM. They neutered KTU. And now it looks like it's Q104.3's turn to see the axes falling.

AT this rate there won't be PD's,MD's,ND's or Personalitities...who's going to Program the Radio Stations...The Traffic Director????

When good folks like Jim Ryan and now Bob Buchmann choose to step down under Clear Channel ownership.. that tells you something...

Seems Crains NY agrees with my statement:

Clear Channel cost cutting continues

WAXQ program director Bob Buchman is the latest executive to leave the company. On the same day that the deal to sell radio and outdoor advertising giant Clear Channel Communications to private investors closed, the cost cutting that has marked the company's operations for several years continued, as New York’s classic rock station WAXQ-FM lost its longtime program director, Bob Buchmann.

Bill Weston (now at WMMR in Philly) was also PD there for a while, right before Steve Young I believe.

You are right! How could I forget about Bill? Brought in to control Darian O'Toole...yeah, that worked out well.

With Buchman leaving, I wonder who's going to fill his two hour slot from 2-4. Are they even going to have someone in there for two hours or are they just going to fill that slot with music and no disc jockey until Ken Dashow arrives at 4?

Maybe they'll move Dashow up to 2-7 and give Carol Miller another hour.

What about OM's?

I just think whoever's on in the overnights gets the midnight hour.

I'd be kidding if I thought this PD change was a good idea. Bob was a good programmer, and I fear for whatever direction the station will take now.

Looks like Batman caught Q104's PD to the punch "POW!" I'm sure that all of the CC Joker's out there is going private, then maybe the Riddler will make a change to get out of Gotham City's hands. Time to face the changes at Q104 that maybe they wouldn't be a format change anytime soon.

Who's going to be the new PD at WAXQ's Q104? The Penguin!!! He will be programming the station as long as we said so.
