Q104 Loses A Major Player

My guess is she will be paired with Steve Fischer on WCFS, Chicago's Fresh 105.9. They have been trying to get Jen Thooey to move there and she won't/hasn't.

Wow. IIRC, Rebecca worked at WCFS' sister station, WBBM-FM, before joining Q104... so it would be a return for her to the Windy City.

It would also dash - for the time being - the many, many hopes of people on the Chicago board that want CBS to simulcast or move WSCR/670's sports format on WCFS. :p

The Mighty Blog of Fun(tm) is on something of a long-term hiatus...due to circumstances beyond my control.

But I did manage to grab Rebecca Wilde's tweet and retweet it:

"@Q104Rebecca Off to travel the world!! Last day at the Q is Oct. 29th!"

I haven't really dug into this yet, due to the aforementioned time issues, but I haven't yet heard anything that indicates she's jumping into another radio job. TV? I don't know. Maybe she'll do a travel show, but that's just a guess and nothing more.

From what I recall, Rebecca came to Q104 from WMXB in Richmond. She never worked in Chicago.

My bad. I got her confused with someone else. Rebecca also worked at "The Peak" in Traverse City, MI (now WSRJ) back in the mid-90s.

Thank you for the correction! :)

Jen Toohey sometimes fills in on Wilde and Fee. I really hope they don't move Jen from afternoons after Wilde is gone (if shes going). I think Kory does an absolutely awesome job, but there was something about the Jen Toohey, Rob Kruz lineup. Remember how around 7 they would get on-air and transition shows together? Remember all the funny Youtube videos - Rob's April Fool's Day prank on Jen? That is "hallway vibe" at a station and that is one of the reasons I as a PD have always looked up to Q104.

Transitioning between shows isn't new. We did it at WMJI in the late 90s. Every show, mornings to middays, Pm drive to nights to overnights...til VTing came along. Cross talk is ok as long as it's genuine.

I've heard it before, too, but mostly on the "small-town" level. Q104 maintained that high-energy pro sound while revealing real people behind the mic. I'm sure this is happening elsewhere, and I know it's nothing new. I agree. But the transition itself isn't necessarily what I liked so much about the old lineup. Jen and Kory may in fact have a transition break, I'm not sure.
