OK, for us luddites living in the fifties it took some research but Q104.7 apparently = KCAQ-FM6 - FM 104.7 - Santa Barbara, CA. But even with that clarification what is the new frequency and why should it surprise anyone that it can't be herd in Orange County? My point? Sometimes brevity without needed definition = huh.
This is to make 104.7 in Oxnard/Ventura and 104.7 in Redlands one big spotted coverage happy family again. "Old School 104.7" will be 'Jammin So Cal' starting tomorrow, and Art Laboe will have his nightly show back in LA - more or less.
Art Laboe been back in L.A. for almost a year now. You can hear him Sundays on 93.5 kday.
That's the Sunday show. His weeknight show has been gone since 92.3 flipped.
That's a bold move trying the 104.7 Simulcast again (both don't even overlap) for the Old School format and getting rid of the Q104.7 heritage brand which in a diary market it's all about dial branding. Now it gives KCAQ a smaller signal then competitor KVYB. What is the reasoning, trying to rim shot into LA with the Old School format since there is a hole? They wouldn't even get credit in the LA Market just Oxnard and Riverside correct?
If they encode (and an out of market station can rent an encoder for very little) and meet the minimum reporting standards (about a 0.1 share equivalent), they will be reported in LA. Over 75 stations have appeared in the LA book in the last year.
