So that would obviously mean PM drive is open at the Q.
John Connor moving up or a newbie brought on board?

Fig's gone. And is the Q far behind?

Or, is it the death knell for the Q?

The elements are now in place for Infinity to "Jack" up 104.1 right now, and Brian Figula leaving is now the latest piece. Doubtful they'd replace him, and I'd expect Rick Allen in PMD until the switch is made.

Hey, any station that finds a reason to air a god-awful show like "Wilde and Fee" seven days a week deserves the death penalty ASAP.

Re: Fig's gone. And is the Q far behind?

There's a couple folks that could move in. Longtime radio veteran Rick Allen sounds good and could take the spot. Maybe a solid weekender/fill-in talent like Jamie Sullivan could get a shot. Who knows?

I doubt Rick would ever be full time at Q. Between his duties at Q, WDOK, and NCX, i'd say he is doing just fine. Plus, I don't think he would attract the demo Q is attempting right now.

Jamie Sullivan in PM drive? She's an 'OK' weekender....nowhere NEAR PM drive talent....yet. Besides, how often is she on a slot thats not a weekend overnight? Then again, with Allan Fee, ya never know.

I wonder if Fee has thought about simply running a re-broadcast of his morning show in that slot so not only is he on more than seven days a week....he's on twice a day on five of those days! That's my prediction!! ;)

I can think of it now: "104 Fee-FM - All Allan, All the Time!" He'd love it.

Setting fire to the transmitter would be far more cost-effective, IMHO...

Re: Fig's gone. And is the Q far behind?

Labor Day is Monday, remember..could you ''Jack'' without stunting?

Some PM Drive names?

Let's see who is on the beach...
Johnny D (don't know if he would get along with Fee)
Big Dave (solid PM Drive jock - wasn't he on Q before)
Scott Free (would come back to c-town in a sec)
Tim Virgin (don't know if he would come back)
Danny C (would not come back)

Any one else?

Re: Some PM Drive names?

Big Dave did weekends for awhile before going to Fort Wayne.

Scott Free's got a PD gig for a CHR somewhere in NY.

For Chrissakes is that all you can do is bitch about Q104? Most of your half-baked scenarios (like the station "Jack"ing) make up for some pretty funny reading (i.e. "Fig is leaving...could this be the sign of a change???). He's taking a PD gig, man! This market already has the closest thing to some "guy-named" format in WMVX with its' horrendously-sounding "no-rules" thing it's currently doing. I didn't realize Amtrak has a station in Independence.

And that was after his internet venture, clevelandhits.com, went under. Their studios were located not far from WJW/8's South Marginal digs...

Just nod and say, "Yes, Allan. Whatever you say, oh Lord of One Radio Lane..."

Tim Virgin's currently the acting PD for WHFS/105.7 in Baltimore. (Not to be confused with the long-time Washington rocker Infinity junked for a Hispanic format; it's a former full-time FM talker that airs rock in evenings and weekends...) Must've missed his time in Cleveland.

Don't you DARE blame me for rumors, look at the facts:

Hey, don't blame me. Blame the fine folks at Infinity that blatently fueled the fire that one of Cleveland's stations would be hi-Jacked, most certainally by the end of the year. WQAL is Infinity's red-headed stepchild when compared to WNCX, WXTM and WDOK.

"Half-baked?" Hahahahahaha. Last I checked, the only drugs I take are by PRESCRIPTION.

I am NO fan of Mr. Fee. That's obvious. While talented PDs like Jim Davis, Steve Legurski and John Gorman whittle away on the bench, Undeserving Allan has been WQAL's PD for five years now.

The station had no objective focus until Fig came on board - it barely did when Dan Binder had like duties a few years aback. When Allan came, the previous airstaff slowly left. Most of them for BETTER gigs like Fig, but they lft nonetheless.

Q-104's image is burnt. I've tried to find a heartbeat- it isn't there. (Sound familiar? It was Jacor's rational when they *decided* to kill off WMMS' rock format.)

Oh, and WMVX/106.5 is doing nothing to quell any suspicion about it's future. Even with a new *solid* PD in place. It's now become a clearinghouse for anything, sure. It's just not as lethal as Q92 ;)

What if? (a way to bring Q back)

Here's a way to get some good sound and ratings back in Q and keep it as a Hot AC.

1) FIRE ALLAN FEE.
2) Bring Fig on as PD with John Connor as APD and MD.

With Fig as PD, the station staff would no longer be treated like barnyard animals lined up for slaughter. Rebecca could be paired with an actual air personality rather than the hairy, smelly slaughterhouse foreman.

Rebecca can do morning radio. We saw this with Danny C. Brian Conroy and Glenn Anderson and great for producing and extra voices. We saw this, again, with Danny C. They simply can not work under the inhumane conditions that Mr. Fee has them in each and every day.

Jen Toohey @ midday...don't change a bit. But now she doesn't have to deal with Allan.

If Fig is PD, he stays on afternoons.

Give John Connor back his full shift and drop Leeza Gibbons. The show is a waste of airspace (although not as much of a waste as "Wilde and Fee")

As for weekends....drop "Ken" and Jamie Sullivan (whoever thought the latter was ready for PMD must be smoking something...and my guess is it is the same stuff that Mr. Fee is smoking.) They need more work. Get them back in broadcast training and then they can start out in a small market and build talent...not get crappy weekend shifts by kissing the rectum of Mr. Fee.

Keep Alli and Rick Allen on weekends...and then bring in some new talent. If you are going to do "All Request Saturday Night"...do it LIVE! And add some sort of special Saturday night music.

Also, get Jen Toohey out from VT'ing Sunday nights and get a live jock.

The problem is Mr. Fee, and unfortunately until he leaves, everyone else will leave.

Congrats...but why the mystery?
In a week or two, everyone will know anyway.

Jim Davis has taken the position of Operations Manager for WERE.
Not exactly a PD gig, but not exactly "on the bench" either.

I stand corrected. I have heard Jim do all imaging for 1300 as of late. Thought that Tom Busch was still there...
