Q105 back to 60s and 70s?

I've detected another musical shift on Q105. I've heard no 80s or 90s songs on there lately, as if they've decided to go back to playing just 60s and 70s music. For a minute, I thought they were either trying to sound Jack-like or maybe even slowly shift towards soft AC. I guess Jack and Mix were a little too much for them to compete.

Since March, 2003 (when jammin' oldies was finally dropped), I've always thought Q105's format was oldies--even though it played some '80s and '90s music.

Has Jammin Oldies ever worked anywhere? I like it but it always seem to die out. If it couldn't work in Detroit, the founding place of Motown records, where could it work???

Funny you should make that observation. I just noticed it sometime last week and was curious as to whether I was just catching it at the "right time". They've been tweaking for almost a year with no real consistancy, which I think makes it even more difficult to tell if you're making progress or not. Arbitron in Jackson isnt exactly stable, so if you're constantly changing music flavors, who knows? Course, in the infamous words of Bob Dylan, "when you got nothin, you got nothin 2 lose"

One thing I did in detecting their musical shift was go to yes.com and checked their logs. If there were any 80s songs on the list, I may've overlooked it.

yeah I noticed it as well. A few months back I heard Pink-Get The Party Started. What a brutal tune to say the least! Which demograpic were they trying to target? Let's get some Raiders and DC5 on there now![/b][/b]
