Q106.3/ROCK 105.5 - MACON - Format Tweeks

Do we have anyone out of Macon updating on formats?

For years, Q106 has been a classic rock station. A few years ago, Cumulus added 105.5 as a mainstream rock station that played a mix of classic and new rock. Lots of people wanted rock 1055 to go more modern per facebook comments considering the Macon area already had a classic rock station. Regardless, rock 1055 has sticked to a playlist that was 50/50 with classic rock (20 years or older) and modern rock.

Well, today I was driving through Macon and would you know, Q106 is a mix of classic rock and new rock and ROck 1055 is a 90s/modern rock leaning station with a few selected tracks of classic rock.

I went to research and see the changes were made first over at Q106. This is yet more proof that Clear Channel is MUCH more aggressive than Cumulus with radio decisions revolving around format changes and tweeks. Rock 1055 could have easily went active rock and solidified the modern rock need in Macon but was simply too cautious so after seeing all the complaints of the safe format on Rock 1055, Q106 has decided to go more modern in their format.
