Q106, Nassau and Imus

Now that MSNBC has dropped Imus and CBS will likely do the same...what is in store for the stations in VT & NH that carry Imus? What will the Zone do in Burlington? What will the Nassau stations run in his place? ???

On the Q's website, there is a statement regarding Imus: www.theqrocks.com

Imus in the Morning has been Q106's meal ticket for nearly 15 years. What will become of the Nassau UV cluster if the flagship cans the I-dude?

(Interesting how Nassau's taking a wait-and-see approach with Imus, while the same company just canned a local jock down in PA for something similar: http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,68424.0.html )
At least one advertiser has pulled its spots from Imus on Q106...

Hope Well-done has Free Beer and Hot Wings on speed dial.

HAHAHAHA! Oh B-K you can say that again! If the Well-done doesn't, I'm sure Norma Jean could help him out! wink-wink! My big girlfriend at cc and I have been waitin' for the day that FBHW heads to 106 North Main Street. In fact, isn't this is what the princeton boobs have wanted for over a year now?? This should be an easy way to force the lame sales staff and their sloppy manager to make the transition from bad to worse. Where's Frisch when you need him? He could have helped lead them through this tough time!... Seems he is really missed in West Lebanon and is doin' some big deals on the streets with his new paper route... In the meantime my fair weather birds, the snow is hittin' the farm up here in Sharon and the boys and I continue to prep the tractors for a spring plowing! woo-hoo!!

Ms. Mary ;)

What Imus said was wrong, it was a mistake, he's admitted to it, he's exposed himself to face those he's offended and look them in the eye.. No were not talking about the Sharpton (talking about people in glass houses throwing boulders..) , this is the women from the Rutgers team. It's done.. Has anyone, and I mean anyone on the Rutgers team ever heard of Imus before he blew it with that remark ? I bet not.

The media has blown this thing so out of proportion it is utterly ridicluous to me.. Sharpton has had his comments on whites and Jewish people through the years, as has the Rev. Jackson..I forgot which one of those to refered to NYC as "hymietown" as a slang remarks to Jewish people. Listen to any rap song (if you can) you hear a lot more than harsh terms that what the I-Dude said. Should advertisers pull out of those the dollars out of those stations since they do not want to be associated with that form of music ? What about the ultra left folks on Dead Air America who bellow out remarks that are malicious and go well beyond the bounds of good polictical dialogue.. Have those advertisers pulled out.. Wait a minute Air America has no advertisers..

To hear O'Reilly, Beck, Rush, Hannity, Savage, Carr, Patrick, Fox Sports Radio take issue with this is waste of the good airwaves time. What Imus did was wrong, but the hypocrates, phonies, and beautiful people are coming out of the woodwork in droves on this issue making this very hard to take it all seriously..

That's my rant on this..

The world is suffering from a pandemic of indigence. People seem to get horrified at the drop of a hat. It use to be you actually had to accomplish things to gain social status… Now all you have to do is pontificate about what disgusts you.

the worst part of the whole story out of PA is that radio stations are still doing "PHRASE THAT PAYS".

hello? is this 1987?

Give 'em a break. It's a Nassau station. It's easy and cheap.

Any questions?

Well, that does it.

At least Nassau won't have to pay a board-op anymore.

That station was buillt around Imus. Unless they can find (and are willing to pay for) a COMPELLING morning show, it looks like its days as a classic rocker are numbered. Sad, but inevitable.

And here we all thought Q106 had to have a back-up plan for the day Imus died.

Ah, but what format could the Q take? They abandoned mainstream active rock, and CHR just doesn't seem to fit the audience there anymore. Oldies is already taken by sister stations. So that leaves what? Adult Contemporary? Or another Frank? Of course, they could try to go head to head with the freshly sold Z97. But is that Nassau's M.O.?

This is quite interesting! ???

As I too stand on the sidelines I wonder the same thing. If you have been following the 'Saga of Nassau' almost anything could happen - including God! (Or is it Gawd..) They have dropped religious formats on in the past to make a quick buck, why not now?

It sure would make up for that horrible man they were broadcasting before and would show they are turning over a new leaf. That should snow.. errr, I mean appease any groups that might have been offended. ;)
