Q107 - 106.7/WSJQ/North Cape May

I listened to Q107 for a while the other day and I must say that it is a GREAT sounding CHR. They're playing Modern Rock/Pop/Dance/Hip Hop/Rap/Alternative Rock - TRUE TOP 40 STYLE RADIO!

IMHO this station sounds much better then WPST/Q102/Z100.

WAIV, WJSE and WGBZ should be watching this station closely.

Once WKOE moves to Tuckerton, WAYV & WZBZ better look out too.

Any sample hours around?

Wow! How you can possibly say that Q107 is a GREAT sounding CHR is beyond me. Yes, they do a great job of playing all these different styles of music (as you pointed out below) but maybe someone should teach the Music Director how to schedule music. The other day I heard a "Gold" rock song segue into back-to-back "Recurrent" Rock songs into Game-Hate it or love it (hip hop).

I have yet to hear a top rated CHR station playing...

Salt & Pepa
C&C Music Factory
and all the other obscure old songs they play

Until they learn what songs a CHR station should be playing - how to schedule those songs and grab a 25 or 50,000 watt signal - WAYV, WZBZ or any other station in the market has nothing to "Look Out For."

PST plays a good bit of older music during the workday, and they're successful. I wouldn't call Salt & Pepa obscure. "Shoop" and "Push It" are two golds that CHRs still play. If Q107 is working the older songs in correctly (i.e. not playing them back-to-back with each other) and dayparting, it can be an advantage.

They'll never achieve success in the full book with that signal, but they could certainly do well in Cape May County by staying local and being decently focused.

So does anyone have a sample hour yet?

Good point. But as a "BRAND NEW" CHR station who Images themselves as being very "HOT" I would think you would hold off on some of that really old gold stuff and just bang the hits to establish yourself, then start to deepen the library.

And if you are gonna play golds right off the back, just be careful were/when and how often they are being scheduled. Something I dont think Q 107 is doing very well.

As far as ratings, I'm sure they could do o.k. in cape may county. But look at the old 'DOX, they only had a 0.1 12+ last book. I wouldn't expect Q 107 to do too much better!
