Q1160???? Who did this?

Puff is never one to openly bash people but I have to ask the question: Who came up with that one and is he fired yet? Unless "he" is the owner of the company himself, John Yinger. Did he not do any research on this market? The entire broadcast industry knows that there has been a 'Q" in this market for years. I'm writing this at 8:15 Monday morning and I'll bet by noon today Jim Bryant and the folks at Bonneville will put a end to this crap. Anyone remember the 'Eagle" fight between Dan Swenson of Susquehanna and the little station in Lawrenceburg a few years back? I could say more but Puff tries to be a nice dragon.

Wow! Seems like either somebody's got some serious clout or serious stupidity over there at Broadcast Plaza....listened for a bit this morning. After loads (had to be 5 minutes or more) of promos (saying Q1160) and PSA's, a couple of seconds of intermittent dead air in between, finally got back into network programming. Audio sounded exactly like their sister station-flat. ::)

Hey, Puff...since I know you're a nice dragon, I'll handle the dirty work for you!

It's obvious that whoever's running the new AM 1160 can't possibly be a broadcast professional. If they were, they would know that Q-102 has held a servicemark on the "Q" call for decades...and they have enforced it way up above Dayton in the past.

I feel sorry for whoever they paid to do the liners and promos...cause whoever you are, you're probably about to have to re-do them all.

The "cease & desist" letter, I figure, will be on the manager's desk by noon.

BTW: the website is www.Q1160.com.

Question is why they didnt even realize the stupidity to call the station Q1160 when they would get a C&D sometime today from Booneville and Q102. heck we up here in the Indy market had a same thing in the Mid 90's when WKLR dumped the format and a week later one of the rimshooters picked up the format and even attempted to use the WKLR Letters. lets say luckly for them it was the weekend so they got away with it before the C&D came from Emmis on Monday Morning

Are you kidding? Q1160? Bonneville will put an end to this stupidity by day's end. What moron would even try a stupid move like this?

Something also tells me that this one is a little more cut and dry than the Cox VS. Susquehanna battle in Atlanta in 1985 over the name "Warm 99". ;D

I was literally in tears cracking up when I read this! Stupidity equals hilarity although when the C&D comes down later I bet it will be no laughing matter for John Yinger. :D

Guys I think we now know why Rodger and the gang at Oldies ran from their lease on 1160. This Yinger guy needs a course in Broadcast 101 or a labotomy. Honestly, I've heard that the way he tried to deal with those boys bordered on insanity. If anyone knows Rodger it may be well worth buying him a beer and some wings and letting him tell you all what happened. I have heard a few things about their relationship but I'll leave that for others to speculate on because Puff is a nice dragon!

Actually, it will be a classic hits format featuring Jim Fox, Mark Sebastian, and the rest of the classic "Q" crew....but seriously...Obviously this was a decision was not made in locally.

Bonneville didn't own them at the time but a long time ago "Q" broke the three minute C/D and notified the the owners of 96.5 the calls WZRQ were off limits.

What a joke! It;s true about Q102 enforcing the designation out of the market, when WIMA (Lima's) FM first went live country, it became WIMQ and "Q102". Cincy's Q102 put a stop to that. Thus it's WIMT "T102".

There's Q102 in Philadelphia and the old Q102 in Dallas TX. Taft Broadcasting had Q trademarked but selectively enforced it. Not sure if the Q name is still Trademarked or not.

Maybe somebody should tell Q or Real 1160 that the show that they air in the morning is called America's Morning News, not America's Newsroom, which I bet is copyrighted by FNC. But, then again, this radio station doesn't seem to care about copyrights.

Well, somebody at "Real Talk" 1160 is reading these boards: the name of their morning show, America's Morning News, is now on the website instead of the incorrect America's Newsroom.

It sounds like this has been a rocky start for the new station. Although, I think a personality like Laura Ingraham who used to be on 55KRC may help the station in the long run.

Two things that might help this station: 1) Change of ownership, 2) Change of frequency. Face up to the realization that it's not a Cincinnati signal except between critical hours. This station needs to concentrate on the three counties in NKY that can hear it 24/7 and forget even trying to be a Cincinnati signal.

From now on, I will be known as Scuff the Magic Wagon :)

They should just recreate Clu 132.

The more I think about things, why didnt someone locally at 1160 tell Yinger that using a "Q" in the logo was not going to fly? Could these people really have been that ignorant about radio customs? Do you think they honestly thought "oh, we're licensed to Florence so it really doesnt matter?" By the way, with this talk format you can really hear the interference from another station coming in there more now than when it was playing oldies. Gee I better quit now because Puff is a nice dragon.
