Q93...Any Jocks Yet!?!?

I haven't listen to the station in a few months, have they added any jocks at all? Do they really think they can actually compete with WIVK by basically being an ipod with commercials.

Oh by golly i bet my @ss any commercials on the "Q" or whatever are bonus spots from ole Star! Here's an idea... bring back the 80s music!

Looks Like 93 had a good trend Better than when they were 80's

I bet that 2.2 trend cost Journal north of $50 thousand dollars, that commercial for Q93 was playing everywhere so often, it made we NOT want to listen.

I heard a jock on the air on Wednesday evening as I was passing through. I enjoyed the mix on the station. The Q format is a few markets now, ranging between country and AC's.

I honestly can't tell the difference between once country song and another...but I asked a friend (who is a country fan), and she said that she actually prefers Q to WIVK.
She's obviously in the minority, but I found it interesting to hear someone say that.

WIVK-FM could play polka and still have a higher 12+ trend than all of the Journal stations combined. Called heritage. What happened to Merle?

I actually prefer Q93 over WIVK as well. Personally, I've always hated 'IVK. I hate all the hokey full service stuff they are cluttered with. If I want that, I'll flip to a news/talk station. I don't listen to country that much, but when I do, I prefer a more produced, CHR type of presentation. (95.7 The Wolf San Francisco, 101.9 The Twister Oklahoma City, and 99.9 Kiss Country Miami are examples of the kind of stations I like).

I like Q93, because it has a slicker, more polished and uncluttered sound. And it has fun CHR type sweepers and jingles. I also like the song tags after each song. Lots of stations are doing that now, but Q93 seems to be the only one in Knoxville doing it. Anyway, I listen to Q93 quite a bit when Im in the mood for country, but I NEVER listen to WIVK. (Ive never understood the fascination with that station. It's always sounded sloppy and hokey to me). But then again, I normally listen to CHR, so that's where my tastes are coming from.

I prefer WIVK. I think the Q93 presentation is interesting for a few hours, but really gets old fast. WIVK has more of a human touch to it where as Q93 sounds robotic.

Musically I prefer WIVK too, but that may be because I liked '90s country and WIVK plays a lot of it, even songs that stiffed big time (ok well that may not help my case, haha) but I find that very enjoyable.

I still don't understand what Journal is doing. The switched up Star and didn't really gain anything and now they're country on the signal. Was this a tactic to keep South Central from going country? Or was it just another in a long line of missteps?

I heard a DJ on "Q93" this morning. The DJ's name was Paul Moore (I think). The morning show is titled "The More Music Morning Show with Paul Moore" which is a good name since they play more music in the morning.

I am loving "Q93" because it is a great station with CHR-style jingles.

I'd like to point out that IVK is down to an 18.3 and the Journal stations are at a 16.6. If IVK were to play polka....

Still, they have gone from a 21.3 to a 14.1 with persons 25-54 and from a 22.3 to a 12.8 with women 25-54 Fall 08 to Fall 09.

Q93 is only at a 5.3 18-34 as of Fall of 09 but watch for us to climb in 10. Join us for 93 Minutes of Non-Stop New Country - Mornings at 8:20 and Afternoons at 4:20

What about all the other stations who had similar success early on but still managed to fail? Kix-95 anyone?

Q93 has the same number of listeners playing country as they did before the flip. Doubt they'll gain really that many more. The country flip just fits better into Journal's cluster - Star 102.1, Hot 104.5 and AM 1040 as classic country. Check back in 2012 and Q93 will have flipped away from country as they will find they can't pull enough away from WIVK.

Looking at the newest trends, 2012 might be when the format that replaced country is replaced.

I just can't tell you how motivating this is for me. Heard the same the type of talk when launching The Twister in OKC and WWGR in Ft. Myers.

The latest trend....

WIVK loses it's double digit 12+ lead over the market for the first time in how long? Q93 is up again and business is real good!
