Q93 in Alexandria leaning Urban?

D

I have noticed Q93 playing a LOT of Urban (Not Hip Hop or R&B) tracks lately (Mostly songs on the CHR and Urban Charts, not just on the CHR charts), mostly back to back, does anyone else get the feeling they are skewing more Urban lately?

Most big market Top 40 stations are sounding urban. Maybe they don't want to sound so small town?

If they don't want to sound so small town, maybe they should avoid those high school football broadcasts and those songs with a barely audible intro...

Very smart what they are doing with it, they have a urban (KKST) station in house, so why not pull KKST down? ruin KKST and KQID together. The last time they did that KQID went down bad and KKST suffered, (Idiots in the corner offices repeating doomed history) . So now you have a station with "Ryan" and a morning show that sounds like it is so canned or a wanna be over aged "Ryan" .... way to go idiots!!!clap clap clap.. Laurel and Hardy screwing it up again, keep on truckin' to bankrupt! Now this means the station that "had" the number one spot for women has pissed off listen at work and WOMEN!!. KKST has to compete with KQID, KBCE, KMXH and KNEK. The urban market is what %?.....:(. ONE MORE TIME Lets hear it for the two Idiots in the corner offices....*@^# I know this is getting long but I think with all this typing the conclusion has come to this... Idiots and there will be a lot of pissed off stray listeners "women" ...I smell a HOLE opening in the market!!! if Q goes to far..mmmmm.. another station flips!! Q could sink to the lonely bottom of the abyss:( FOREVER!!!!!!!! KZMZ can be beat with ease. poorly programmed easy for the pickins'!! stay with me on this!! so now KQID is in the Abyss, KKST is spinning out of control because of Q, KBCE is the Dominate urban then KMXH then KKST then comes KQID in urban. What does Cenla have left?? Oh thats right KRRV.. a country station holding on for dear life from KLAA. Cenla crumbles!! Urban Radio and Opus wins...this is my prediction of the dangerous road they are traveling.

Musictown: I have to laugh.."Most" BIG markets? lmfao No most do not! most are CC owned or other corp owned and they run canned crap like Kqid is now doing, when the market can handle it "BIG" markets have a "BIGGER" population to support it! a 1 share in L.A or New York is worth millions, A 1 share here is worth hundreds. It has nothing to do with the sound or sounding "BIG", people that live in the "ALEX" market do not live in a "BIG" market ! its a "LOcal" market!!! but I do understand your point of the reason why the Idiots are doing Idiot stuff.

Davela I hear the song "Amazing Grace" lol

Mrvoiceguy, you are correct about KZMZ, that station is wide open to make a complete turnaround, for the past few years it has sounded like no one cares and the same music logs regenerated over and over, like who ever is programming it just schedules music and leaves each day, without caring to fine tune it or make it "a favorable" station... someone has obviously lost interest and has grown tired of at least TRYING to do good radio.

CHR is in it's Urban cycle right now, so an Urban lean is to be expected. Actually, Urban has been in a CHR lean lately, with tracks from B.o.B. & Black Eyed Peas crossing over.

Really????? Black Eyed Peas have been "crossing" over for the last five years. The Top 40 CHR "Current Hit Radio" has been leaning the other way...IE Amp Radio, The problem is Cenla B has a urban station and they are Idiots. go urban if you dont have another in your pocket.

I think you are right DaveLA, nobody cares or has the the know how to make it a better station, or Taylor and Charlie (idiots) dont really know their butts from a crawfish.

I think you misunderstood me. I was saying that those records crossed over from CHR TO Urban. That very rarely happens.

Urban/Hip-Hop on a CHR is common.

CHR leaning music on the Urban chart is uncommon.

So it looks Like Jessica is out at KID Q93, So it looks like the afternoon guy "Fuzzy" is the only smart choice of keeping.Let's see if the "idiots" dont screw that up, He's probably the guy holding things together! Oh its about time she is gone ;D!!!!

If the two owners want to keep someone who never complains, goes with the flow (even when it's wrong or taking advantage of him or the listeners), and always says "YES SIR" and never "NO SIR", and sounds the SAME on the air now as when he first started (no improvement), then Fuzzy has a job for life.
