Q94

Driving home last night I heard Kash on in the evening . Not sure why, but I met him earlier this year and he is a cool guy so just thought I would say good luck if it's a new gig. If not I would ask, what the heck did you do? Good-luck either way.....

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!---------is Q94 live and local at night? I thought the Super Q was now totally off the bird and a complete parody of what it once was.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think 94.5 is the primary EAS station in the area...so there's always needs to be a person "at the helm" in case of emergencies.

I think this dates back to the WRVA-FM days. Way, way, waaay before my time but I'm pretty sure 94.5/1140 are the originating EAS stations.

So, if that's the case, the 24/7 staff is pretty much a FCC mandate. I know when I worked in radio about 50 mi outside of Richmond, we had WRVA as EAS 1 and (the former) WKJS 104.7 as EAS 2.

You probably only need one board-op in the building at all hours to cover both stations.
Q94 is live & local with Jackson from 5-8PM. Looks to be a new arrival from the Providence area. Kash covers 8-MID and got promoted to MD from what I understand.

The rest of the day is Elvis Duran from NYC, Seacrest from LA and Randi West from Raleigh.
Overnight and weekend are the Clear Channel premium choice jocks and music. Ain't radio awesome?
My 94th post on Radio Info dedicted to WRVQ-FM Richmond.

I remember when WRVA-FM flipped to Q94 and WLEE went MOYL. I remember when WRXL became a Rock station and WEZS went AC then HOT AC as WMXB. I remember WMXV, Oldies 106, and the Duck. So what does that make me? I do remember signing up WPLZ to do remote broadcasts from the Richmond Convention Center to juice up a failing City Job Fair. That was fun. Now back to reality and the Drew Phinney Show.

I'm certainly not old, but I remember that show would always come on after "A Prarie Home Companion" on WCVE-FM. Always thought the intro song to that show "Home Will Always be Virginia" should have been State Song replacement after "Ol' Virginny" got the boot. Catchy tunes you don't hear much on FM and I always loved listening.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Page Wilson originally on WVGO when they had some interesting jazz and such on the weekends? I don't remember anything about it before that, but as I said, I am not THAT old (OK...I'm quickly approaching 30, which makes me a "whipper-snapper" on these boards ;D)

And WRFK...anybody remember how powerful that station was before they went commercial? I'm going to imagine it was in mono, signed off at night, and was a really short class B. Then they put that signal on the old WVRN-TV tower and it's pretty powerful. Never had a problem picking up that and WTVR-FM in places like South Hill, Lawrenceville, and Keysville!
