Q96 is on the air

Ya beat me, 3787! Geez, I checked about 4 hrs ago, nothing. Audio quality at this time is- muffled, mimics the Campo main. Another 1/2 fast CCR operation...

It was pure coincidence. I was in my car on lunch and tuned it in, expecting static. Their new repeater gets much better coverage. If only they could broadcast in Stereo to help eliminate that dull sound.

I didn't hear any imaging, just back to back music. But perhaps that was just the timing.

That booster transmitter @ Sweetwater must be a good location. I also flipped to 96.1 heading out of work just out of curiosity and was surprised to hear it loud and clear although it's of mono quality.

Now that Q96 is on the air again, it will be interesting to see how they will attempt to attract listeners again in the greater SD region and possibly add some on-air talent since it seems they're playing on a repeat playlist.

Nonetheless, it's nice to have an alternative station to listen to again other than Z90 & Channel 933. Welcome back Q96.

Sources indicate that the translator site is not completed yet, as of last night. A guard was seen overlooking a U-Haul trailer and a generator.
No hard wired AC mains , or microwave yet. Other information indicates an X3 engineering crew(Vista) is doing the install, supervised by a CCR
employee. The guyed mast is mounted on a water 'standpipe', near a fenced water tank.

If this was a country outlet, that's a number one hit: on a water 'standpipe', near a fenced water tank

Is it still Top 40?
If so, is the signal still null nort of I-8, or is this something KHTS and XHITZ will have deal with now?

Yes
Yes
No.

I agree; KHTS and XHITZ have nothing to worry about with KSIQ. Not sure how they'll pull any numbers with a signal that doesn't reach half the market.

That said, they'd be better off (imho) as urban or CHR/Rhythmic since Z90 seems to have shifted pretty mainstream (Adele's in heavy rotation now- I like the way both Z and Channel sound, just leaves a format hole in SD.) But even then, North County would just tune into Power 106.

I agree with you on the North County people listen to Power 106.As for Q 96,On friday I heard them good up at Costco in Poway.Q 96 actually took out the Spanish station on the same freq.

The signal you've been getting on Thursday and Friday was only using one yagi, and it may have well been the northward aimed unit. According to
my source, the 2nd and 3rd antennas were being cabled down to the ground level on Friday. The antennas are aimed in 3 directions approx. 120
degrees apart. A 'cherry picker' was employed. This may well be a move that will be argued to be made permanent, given the cost of this
"temporary" site, and the minimal atmospheric deflection at this elevation. This STA expires in October...

Q96 switched off Sunday afternoon, but now is back on with a stronger signal. The music sounds clearer, but in mono. I will commute to Poway tomorrow and will see how strong the KSIQ signal is in the north county.

My home Onkyo and beam are tuned to the Campo Q96, my portable is picking up the Sweetwater booster. But NO boosting is being done; the
programming is different. Sweetwater is not in Mexico. Cherry Creek: read section 74.1201(f).

The Sweetwater site was not the one on this weekend it was the Mt. Miguel one. And it was the same programming just with much delay do to some strange digital encoding.

Much to do about .... nothing.

KSIQ is in ((stereo)); sounding monophonic. The pilot light was on my radio.

You are correct Chris, I could hear a VERY slight bit of seperation in my car radio this weekend. But there is no audio processor on the station Im sure of that. Probably used the stereo generator in the exciter

There has to be some sort of audio processing. You have to be able to limit peaks and you sure don't want zero compression or a lot of stuff you wouldn't even be able to hear.
