Qantum Cape Cod lets another full timer go!

The Cape radio community is shocked to learn that Cat Wilson, long time radio personality and Promotions Director for Qantum CC was 'let go' yesterday. The hefty EEI pricetag must be the reason. Cat is a hard worker and was dedicated to that company.

What the hell is wrong with them ??? :-\ ???
Cat is a hard worker and is a great asset to any company...
Hopefully someone will grab her up....who did their put in her place?
more boring voicetracks????

Not all voicetracks are boring. Some live jocks are boring. It's not about the tool, it's about how you use it.

That's ridiculous. Cat was the driving force of those stations all being involved in the community and is not only a hell of a jock, but she's willing to go out of her way and help people, whether they're full timers or weekenders. Qantum just let go of quite possibly their biggest asset.

Well maybe some jocks are boring BUT CAT WASN'T!!!! and if you were a real jock you would be worried about your job security as well pretty soon everything will be automated, which means your hours will be cut or maybe laid off like the rest....what makes you think your job is so secure?????

I am a real jock who does understand the realities of this industry. My comments had NOTHING to do with that. My point is that tracking doesn't always equal boring (and live CAN be boring).

Last I heard, Cat applied over at Cape Cod Broadcasting. Steve McVie is taking her midday shift (most likely he is voice tracking). I agree that Cat WAS the passion of Qantum! Several sales people on staff even offred to take a pay cut to keep Cat on, but he GM denied their request. I hear from inside sources that the atmosphere at Qantum is difficult at best to work in. BTW - all the weekend shifts at Qantum are also now voice track.

I am not sure that she has applied anywhere. She is probably weighing her options - if there are any available in the area.

the fact that there are posters in this stream with 3 or 4 or 5 posts to their credit makes this whole conversation wreak of nepotism. "inside sources"? "the passion of qantum"? And then to blame the GM for not agreeing with the sales staff?? this stream is negligent, at best.

I dont think anyone is questioning a person's loyalty to their job or what they did to enhance it from a community perspective over the years. I'd be willing to bet we all agree that the best employee is the one most dedicated and loyal. but for every supporter of that indvidual, there are two more who think just the opposite.

the principle here appears simple: unless an employee outrightly threatens someone's safety or is difficult to work with, the reason for letting them go in the Cape Cod radio market is economics, and not how much or how little they've given to a company. the market has lost a lot of good, hard working people over the past two years, but if they don't fit into the bigger picture of that radio group economically, then they're gone. that's cold, but that's the way it is in this recession.

If Cat's the great, dedicated and loyal individual you all say she is, then don't worry about her. Her next interviewer will see that "passion" and hire her right away.
