QC Radio rumors

Has there been any rumors in the world of QC radio such as new stations or existing stations being flipped? I'm curious to know if there's anything going on.

A change is afoot at 104.9. Looks like Country is being dumped for perhaps Talk. New format on Wednesday August 31 at noon. The 104.9 The Hawk Facebook page has been deactivated.

Country does not seem to work on 104.9 it seems. Am curious to as to what the new format is.

It appears 93.9 is dumping classic hits and switching to Jack FM? Can anybody confirm this. It also appears that 104.9 could pick up 93.9's classic hits format which with it going to talk possibly are they gonna do a talk music hybrid (Which would really take down woc if the right listeners are attracted)? Now whether they do it morning show style (As in they talk, play music and do commercial breaks) or do it where it's talk during the day and music at night similar to KWPC's farm during the day and classic country at night.

Jack FM has launched at 93.9 and a format similar to Des Moines 100.3 the bus KDRB debuted on 104.9 today which means the talk idea must of been abandoned unless it's gonna be integrated soon (Think of KCJJ Iowa City and KWPC Muscatine)

104.9 has brought back the heritage KIIK brand. It will take the KIIK-FM calls shortly.

KIIK 103.7 was the heritage top-40 for about 10 years until WPXR 98.9 ran it out of the format in 1989.

I wondered where the KIIK calls went...they did got to Fairfield's 95.9 FM when 103.7 dropped the top 40 format.

The KIIK calls have been on an AM in the Ft. Leonard Wood, MO area the last few years. They made their way down there after GoodRadio got the Shepherd Stations to add to the Iowa stations. Looks like they'll stay there, too, as 104.9 will be KIIK-FM.

If someone really wants to take on WLLR then they need to put a little more effort into it. Simply flipping a station to New Country has proven to not be effective time and time again.

I wouldn't say I know a ton about the market. I know a little about the market's history but not much at all about who's worked there over the years.

I spent about a month in Cedar Rapids in '94 between my freshman and sophomore years of college, but I didn't listen to much radio out of the Quad Cities. I didn't get my home stereo until I went back to college and started my sophomore year. So, there wasn't much my Walkman could get that far away. I remember getting KBOB 99.7 faintly on the Walkman, and it and KUUL 103.7 on the car radio, but that was about it.

Any new changes happening to any of the stations? I know B100's wikipedia page said for a while "Perhaps a change coming in 2017."
