QEI 619 Mod monitor parts

Has anyone got a dead/wrecked/parted out 691 mod monitor?

I'm looking for a set of replacement dial scales for all three meters. I have made the mistake
of leaving my meter sitting in a room facing a sunny window for some months now, not thinking
for a moment that the sun would fade the red numbers/markings - but it has.

I'll try for second-hand scales first for two reasons - more than likely cheaper than new ones,
and probably easier to get than trying to source new ones from QEI.

You may be better off seeing if QEI would sell you replacement meters. I, for one, got rid of my 691 since their only service/repair option is a flat-rate service of $995. I could repair my Belars many times over for that price.

I doubt I could even get a reply from them. I have emailed Jeff Detweiler in the hope he can communicate with them, but I also
believe there must be a few dead ones out there that have been ratted for parts or simply relegated to a back shelf somewhere
due to the expense of repair as you mention.

If the markings are just badly faded, it would be more effective to disassemble the meter movement ( is it a phyiscal meter ?)
and repaint it with real paint and a 0000 tip paintbrush.
Replacement with the same meter will still be vulnerable to fading.

When possible, fix something so that it's fixed for good.
I'd rather see my own hand painted scale than watch another factory screened dial face fade away.

Take a look at who made the movements (Modutec, PhasOtron, Weston, whoever) and then see iof they might be able to supply you with new scales. Or like Wells says, steady hand and some red paint and roll your own. Actually, you can 0probably get red rub off lettrers and numbers from anb art supply house and use them.

Silk Screening gives a really good product, I have re-furbed some old Audimax tube AGC's and a couple of old Gates tube limiters. Meters look new!
