Quad-City ratings out....

No big surprises really. WLLR went down a few points, still has a huge lead and does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
They still have not updated that KBOB is active rock not classic country.
Q continues to slide, where 97X moves right up to number one, with B100 following close behind.
KQCS Star 93.5 has moved up, proving the ratings before might have just been a fluke.

Any predictions?

I want to say KUUL will drop oldies and go Top 40, but I almost think there will be nothing new in radio inthe QC until fall comes. Thoughts?

I see WOC had a nice spike, mostly due in part to the election season. Looks like they took numbers from WLLR, yet as you mentioned, WLLR is still #1 by a good deal. So best of both worlds, so to speak, for Clear Channel.

Another way of looking at it, the numbers WOC gained is about equal to the combined numbers KUUL and Q 106 lost. We're only seeing 12+ for the week numbers, so we can't see the numbers for the KUUL morning show, or specific demographics, but one has to wonder what remains in store for that pair's future. The problem for KUUL and 106 is if you take away the KUUL morning show, those 2 stations don't have much life to them to make them appealing to a listening audience. They're virtually stripped down stations and the numbers seem to be reflecting that, as they've trended downwards 2 straight ratings periods.

It's interesting to look at the battle between the clusters as each has 4 FMs. 3 of Clear Channel's 4 FMs went down, while the one that went up only went up a half-point. For Cumulus, 3 of their 4 FMs went up....the one that went down is their bread-winner, 97x. The cumulative total between the cluster of FMs is Clear Channel 32.6 (with WLLR making up about half of that) to Cumulus 25.1, a difference of 7.5. Last ratings period it was Clear Channel 38.2 to Cumulus 23.0, a difference of 15.2....so they've had their lead cut in half. Fall of 2007, the cumulative totals were Clear Channel 35.9 to Cumulus 22.3, a difference of 13.6. So there's no doubt the Cumulus cluster is gaining....but will they ever overtake Clear Channel with WLLR pulling the train? A year ago, 4 of the 6 FMs above a 5-share were Clear Channel's. Now Cumulus has 3 of the 5 FMs above a 5-share. It'll be interesting to see if that trend continues or if this past rating period was a fluke in that department.

Did you guys see the non-commercial ratings??

92.5 WGVV-LP did very good again. Almost beat KUUL. I think that's pretty good considering that 92.5 is only 100 watts...
89.3 WDLM also tied with Star.

KUUL will not go Top 40. There is not enough advertising support for the demo that that music attracts.
It might be diffrent if KBEA went away, but there is not room for two of those signals in that market.

I agree. EnergyDeKalb2, you say it EVERYTIME that ratings come out. But the truth is...KUUL WILL NOT GO TOP 40. As jjschim said, there is not enough advertising support for that demo. With Clear Channel cutting costs and eliminating 1,850 jobs, it definitely won't happen. There isn't enough talent in the building as it is to put on that station...maybe for a Hot AC...but not a CHR.
