I read that 101.5 the Light in Lexington, Kentucky no longer exists. The station use to broadcast Salem's Morningstar CCM network. Does anyone have any details about this station? This station was the only commercial CCM in the Lexington area.

The Light has been replaced by 101.5 The Planet. The format is talk. There's a thread on it here: http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=589446&Board=kentucky
K-Love does blanket the market on 89.9 out of Georgetown and 96.3 from Stanford, but of course is non-commercial.
Air1 has most of the market covered on 95.3 from Wilmore and 107.1 from Danville, and like its sister network K-Love, is non-commerical.
99.1 WJMM (which moved from 99.3 a couple years ago) is commerical and does play some music, but is not even close to a full-time CCM.
90.7 The Wind is closer to a full-time Inspo station (although they play less music then when they first signed on in Fall 2003), but the station is licensed to Paris and has poor coverage through most of Lexington - it actually would make a good complement to 96.3 WXKY in terms of coverage, although downtown Lexington coverage would still be bad.
Honestly, I'm surprised Cumulus doesn't try AC or Urban on 101.5-it'd leave LM in some pain if it were successful.<P ID="signature">______________

I am surprised that Cumulus is trying a Talk format on 101.5, especially since WLXO-FM 96.1 carries some of the big name talkers like Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Mike Savage, Laura Ingraham and Neil Boortz. Not to mention, they have to compete with Rush Limbaugh and the local hosts on WVLK-AM 590 and WLAP-AM 630. Besides the Salem talkers, what other type of talk programming is available for strong competition. It seems that a local full-time Christian AC would be a good niche in the Lexington market. Although, the neighbors up north do not have a full-time local CCM in Cincinnati, with the exception of non-commercial MOR WAKW-FM 93.3, along with the non-commercials K-Love on WNLT-FM 104.3 and Air 1 on WJYC-FM 90.1. I am surprised that Salem did not place their Fish CCM brand on WYGY-FM 96.5 in Cincinnati when they owned that Country station a few years ago.

Just for fun, let's see how well I remember my Lexington KY CCM history.
Most were owned by either Mortenson or Cousin Vern. WJMM first played some CCM when Mortenson owned them at 106.1. They moved to 106.3 to clear room for Baldwin's 105.9 Wilmore assignment. 106.3 was finally sold to Lynn Martin. Baldwin programmed the Word in Music network on 105.9 but eventually went local and moved to 95.3. Mortenson programmed Salem's Today's Christian Music on 92.1 before selling it to Lynn. Prior to that they programmed TCM on 96.1.
With those WJMM calls, I seem to recall Jimmy Swaggart owning 106.1 before Mortenson. I suspect Jimmy didn't play CCM. ;-)
