Question about 1700 AM reception...

Was listening to 1700 AM just before local sunset time (5 PM) here in Vermilion, OH and heard an ID for 'KLIF 570' (on 1700) mixing in with KBGG/Des Moines. Does KLIF have a relay on 1700?

Radio-Locator lists KKLF in Richardson as talk and the website redirects to klif.com

1700 is a simulcast with 570. It is combined with 570 for ratings, as it does no programming of its own.

I've heard KKLF/1700 on my drive home (between 5:30 - 6:30 PM EST) several times lately, and this evening 1630/KKGM in Ft. Worth was there dominating for short periods with Gospel music. First time I'd heard them.

It was a weird night for the X-Band. The usuals were not dominating during sunset, unfortunately I had already heard all of their replacements but two.

I've not tuned in to see if I could log any of the western X-Band stations just before their power switch. Has anyone else tried?

I have received the following on 1700 here in Bothell/Bellevue...

XEPE Tecate, BCN (ESPN, most common)
KVNS Brownsville, TX (Classic Hits, less common at about 2000 miles)
The community/emergency TIS out of Issaquah, WA (10w or less, have heard a threshold of it in Bothell, and it comes in faintly in Bellevue)
I have never gotten KKLF. Tried during the blackout in the Southwest a few months ago (which XEPE was knocked off the air) and got KVNS and a weak talker, maybe KKLF but I'm not sure.

1700 in north Texas (it's licensed to the Dallas suburb of Richardson but the transmitter sites are farther out) has at one time or another simulcasted 570 KLIF or 1310 KTCK (the Ticket). Neither station has much signal to the north (KLIF protects WNAX, the KTCK pattern is a mess).

this morning in east tennessee strongest signal yet for KVNS. it was like being 10 miles from brownsville

The globaltuners.com receiver in Northern Ireland gets KVNS....I heard it based on the songs played/website "last played." Funny, but my local WJCC Miami Springs FL (which has more power than KVNS, but just a bit more) seems to be jumped over, in these overseas catches!

This 1700 was making it into Ohio tonight ... it was quite audible on the channel amid some slop. Still waiting to hear KVNS up here. Sort of the reverse of Houston, where KVNS owned the channel every night and the Dallas 1700 usually was nowhere to be found and KLIF owned 570.
