I've been listening in my mp3 player recently to some of the 15-minute Fibber McGee and Molly episodes that NBC Radio aired "transcribed" from 1953-1956. While not up to the standard of the previous half-hour shows, they are interesting in their own right. Bill Thompson and Arthur Q. Bryan were the only regulars besides Jim and Marian Jordan. However, some of the better known radio character actors appeared in multiple episodes, such as William Conrad, Mary Jane Croft, Shrley Mitchell, Elvia Allman and Parley Baer, among others.
I say all that to ask this..John Wald was the announcer..He usually aired a Public Service Announcement or two..Except for times the show had a product as a sponsor..He and sometimes Bill Goodwin promoted NBC Radio shows..I am wondering, did John Wald do announcing for local KFI (NBC radio affiliate) or KNBC-TV?
(I know this is more about radio-but Fibber and Molly were on TV..weak as the show ended up on TV..)
