Question About 88.1 WSRU

I was wondering if anyone on here might know if 88.1 WSRU Slippery Rock transmits an RDS signal? Last night, here in Massachusetts, I received a Meteor Scatter burst on 88.1, and picked up a RDS PI code of 836A, which translates to WRSK. It appears that WRSK were their old calls, so it's possible that it might not have been changed. There are only some receivers/systems that pick up the PI codes, such as the Sangean HDT-1/HDT-1X, and the Conrad RDS Manager/RDS Decoder software that I was using. If there's someone that does happen to have one of these receivers, that can see if they are indeed sending out the WRSK calls, that would be great, but even knowing if they transmit RDS at all would be helpful.

It's also possible that this was just a very coincidental false hit, but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone knows anything.

Hi!

I actually worked with WSRU Radio really briefly when I was a student there. They used to be called WRSK-FM until only about two years ago in spring of 2008 I think when they abruptly changed their call letters to reflect the school's in house television station and of course, the university's abbreviation "SRU." The station engineer at the time did it without getting approval from the school which caused some controversy on campus. But as for that technical RDS signal, I have no idea. But I can ask someone who might know if no one else here gets back to you in the next few days. That's neat you picked it up out there. Our signal at that station wouldn't get past the college the town is in...I will have to tell others that it was picked up all the way in Massachusetts!

The campus radio station address is: http://organizations.sru.edu/wsru/index.htm
