Question about Comcast Analog Service Plainville/Bristol System

Just for the heck of it I disconnected my cable box and hooked the cable directly into the TV. Basic cable is:

5 Nutmeg TV (Public Access)

11 WCCT-TV

13 WRDM

95 Classic Arts Showcase (Nutmeg TV's Educational Access Channel)
96 Government Access
98 CT-N
99 HSN

Then I noticed something. Analog Channel 2 had color bars and tones on it. Do they ever show anything on that channel? There is no Channel 2 with with the box. I know with the box there's color bars and tones on Channel 102 and sometimes they'll show a Rangers game from MSG on that channel.

Is this on a tube set or a flat screen? As on the flat screen you can pick up digital cable channels you think you would need a box. One example all the Music Choice channels picked up without a digital cable box. No lie. I was so surprised. Plus QVC HD, CBS College Sports HD, TBS HD, ABC Family HD. Its sweet no point in needing to get the digital box.

It's an analog TV. I bought it in 05 and it works fine. Even if I had a job I still wouldn't upgrade to an HD set unless I decided to get a TV for my bedroom.
