QUESTION ABOUT CRITICAL HOURS.

I hope I am posting this on the right board, my question seemed to fit here the best.

My question about critical hours. Is it possible for a station to only have to use their CH power in the morning
hours or afternoon hours? Are any of the stations licensed with CH, only required to use them in the two hours
after sunrise, or the two hours before sunset, or must they use that power at both times?

Another question I have is have you ever came across a station who mistakes CH for PRSA?

The reason I am asking these question's is due to a conversation I had with a couple of friends in radio,
one in sales and marketing like myself, and the other with a station owner. I said that CH is not a PSRA,
and if licensed for CH, that CH power must be used during both time periods. I know there are many engineer's
on this board will know the answer to this.

I have 2 stations that are licensed for CH power levels. One is a fulltime AM, the other is a daytimer. Both stations use CH power levels during both time periods as specified on their license.

I've seen the reverse situation a couple of times, where the station only had to use CH power in the afternoon. In both instances, the full daytime power of the station was 500 watts, which is what they were authorized for PSA with a standard sign-on at 6:00am local time. Therefore, they dropped to CH power of 250 watts two hours before sunset, then to PSSA power (19 watts) until two hours after sunset.
