QUESTION ABOUT DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA'S

When searching the FCC database I often see the term "augmentations", what exactly in radio terms does that mean? I know what it
means to augment something but when it comes to directional antenna's I can't quite grasp it. Sometimes you see a station with 10 or
20 augmentations or some with just 1 or 2, and how come new stations are no longer using them?

Back in the 1980's the FCC began calculating and using "standard patterns" for all AM directionals so they could computerize their database. Augmentations are used where the actual measured pattern doesn't quite agree with the calculated/computed standard pattern for the station.
